Display items showing with Tax and without Tax.

Hi all,

Is the above possible?

I want to show all items with both UK VAT (Gross) and without UK VAT (Net).

Or even better, can I show both options and then the VAT as an extra line?

-----

My problem is:

I use Xero as my accounting program and creater of invoices.

If I have Shopify set up to display products without Tax (Net), with taxes added at cart stage, this does nto satify all my suppliers. Where as, if I display my products as including Tax (Gross), Shopify does not recognise the Tax and Xero receives invoices with products containing no tax.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Machina,

Cian here from Shopify. That's a great question!

If you are selling from the UK to UK customers you will be required to show prices with taxes included. However, if you want to avoid your international customers paying the VAT, you can display one price with taxes included for your local customers and another price without the taxes for your international customers. Checkout the following link to learn more about this: https://docs.shopify.com/manual/configuration/store-customization/page-specific/product-page/show-va...

You can see a test shop running the solution here: http://take.ms/QPQS8

If you are selling to a company that is VAT exempt in the UK, one possible solution would be to create a manual payment option on this order. The company would be able to pay the price excluding the VAT. For more info on this see the following link: https://www.shopify.com/faq/can-i-accept-funds-manually

All the best!

Cian

Hello,

I have same problem here. My custmers are in Japan.

In Japan, it is not required to display both, but many of E-Commerce shops are doing so.

So if someone has a solution besides above, it would help me a lot.

Hi,

You can show your product price without tax with this regular code,

{{ product.price | money }}

and use the times option to add 8% to the price, so that it gets outputted as the tax-inclusive price.

{{ product.price | times:1.08 | money }}

Hi there!

This is Katy from Sufio.

Sufio allows you to display product prices on invoices without taxes even if the unit prices in Shopify are set to include taxes. Sufio can then display the tax rate column, tax amount column and the total price with and without taxes.

You can also check out our article on what difference it makes to have taxes excluded or included in your product prices in Shopify

Hope this helps a little!

Wish you all the best,

Katy @ Sufio, invoicing app for Shopify

Cian, thanks for your post above and we have a similar issue.  We sell in the UK.  We have 'retail' customers who come to us direct and business customers who buy from us in bulk.  The 'retail' customers have to see prices including tax.  But the business customers want to see prices excluding tax and then have tax added at checkout.  We have installed an App - Customer Pricing (Wholesale & VIP Pricing) to show our business customers different pricing to our retail customers, but it doesn't allow us to show prices to our business customers less tax and, at the same time, show prices inclusive of tax to 'retail' customers.  How do we get rtound that?

Hi Mark,

I'm Marcel from Digital Takeout and I'm just responding to your post. We have developed an app called Multiple Pricing to show two prices for a product. For example: one with VAT and one without. This might be a solution for your store perhaps. There's a 7 days trial, so you can try without risk. You'll find Multiple Pricing here: https://apps.shopify.com/tax-free-shopify-vat

Let me know if you have any questions or remarks.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Marcel

Thanks and I'd noticed that.  But I don't want to show the 'with tax' and 'without tax' price at the same time.  Our business customers might get a product at £5 + tax = £6.  The normal consumer would pay £12.50 including tax.  We're using an App that allows our business customers to login and see pricing exclusively for them, so for them we want to display £5 and then £6 with tax.  For consumers, we would want to diusplay £12.50 including tax.  Can your app do that?
