Exporting Orders

I have been exporting orders by date range for over four years with no problems.  I do this monthly for the previous month.  Now for two weekends in a row I have tried to export my September orders and payouts and i get the usual response "Your export will be delivered by email to: wb6wlf@att.net. Depending on how many Orders you’re exporting, this could take some time." but the csv file never arrives in my email.  HELP!!

Tira here, from Shopify. I'm here to help. 

I understand you're looking to export your orders and reports by CSV. I appreciate that you've been with Shopify for a long time and I want to shed some light and ask a few questions to troubleshoot this together. 

Order and Product CSV files used to have a file limit, and as of September 2019, we have removed this limit. Some Order CSV exports may take 24 hours or longer to export, depending on how big the file is. Additionally, order CSVs can fail to go through, and if they do, then an email will be sent to your email address to note the file has failed to export. Are you able to list out the steps that you've taken to export your file? Sometimes the exports can go into you spam or junk folder in your inbox, have you checked there for any messages?

Hi Tira:

Thanks for the quick response.  Ironically, this month is very slow as i had only 72 orders.  Other months seem to average about 150 with some months with 250 orders.  I usually get the exports back within five minutes.  Also I export my Payouts and that never exceeds 31....usually around 15 lines.  I also checked my Spam/Junk mailboxes and nothing is there.  When i export the orders, it is very straightforward....like I said earlier, I've been doing the same thing since January 2016 with absolutely no issues and i'm using the same computer etc so nothing has changed on my end.

It definitely sounds like something is going on. I did some digging and I don't see anything on our end that would attribute to this, so I am wondering if this could be a local issue with your email provider. Which email provider are you using to receive emails? Are you still receiving other emails from Shopify? 

I'm curious to know, what products do you sell? 

Once I hear from you, we can dig into this together.

The order export function needs work.  I routinely export my orders for import into my accounting software.  My year end balance is off by $15k so I requested an export of all orders for 2020.  Comparing it to the orders already in my accounting software there are a bunch of orders missing from this new export as well.  Not impressed!
