I would also like an answer to this. We frequently have customers that live out of state that purchase wine for in-store pick-up and it defaults to their billing zip code tax rate. This is a critical piece of functionality that I'd greatly appreciate seeing implemented into the platform.
It causes us to lose money when these pop up.
Similar problem for us - we don't have a brick-and-mortar location, nor do we ship to the billing address. We deliver everything locally to vacation homes that are rented by people all over the country.
Really we just need to force a single (local) tax rate and skip the whole concept of shipping adress.
Any way to do it?
Thanks so much for your reply. Inelegant, somewhat expensive, and potentially problematic solutions to what should be a simple fix. When we enable local pickup, we should be able to choose to apply tax at our local rate.
Shopify, more states are going to be instituting the charging of sales tax on nonresident customers ordering online but picking up locally. We need an easy and affordable solution.
