Once I get my shipping and and billing functionality set up and working, I would like to enable Shopify payments to begin accepting payments online. I am also opening a brick and mortar location in 2014 and would like to use Shopify PoS to accept payments in person. Basically I want to use Shopify as my one stop shop for both my website, ecommerce provider, and point of sale system.
I would also like to use quickbooks for my accounting, bookkeeping, and billing/procurement software.
Could you please help guide me through the best way to set up this type of system and help me understand what best practices are? Is this a good approach to this aspect of my business?
It's pretty exciting to hear that you're interested in using Shopify for most aspects of your business. This is exactly the kind of thing we like to hear from our merchants.
Because Shopify's online incarnation and POS were designed to work together, you won't really have to put too much work in to get those guys set up in tandem. The only real x factor here is how to get Quickbooks involved. Luckily, we have a few apps in our app store that you can look in to and determine which one best suits your needs.
By far the most popular app for Quickbooks Integration seems to be SoftCookies, which can be found in our app store here:
The only common issue I've heard of with Softcookies is the monthly pricing which can range anywhere from $10 to $50 per month. From looking at it, it would seem to do what you'd need as per your post.
I'm at a bit of a disadvantage as I don't have any case studies on this kind of thing that I could point to as an example for you to follow. I'm interested to hear if other merchants with a similar setup to the one you're thinking about will respond to this forum post.
