setting taxes up on free shipping

How do I set up the proper taxes with offering free shipping? I had an order that didn't tax one customer and got a little freaked out about it. Also,if I get my products fulfilled in another state do I need to add them as a physical prescence?

You don't need to worry about setting up proper tax rates with Free Shipping. As long as you have your physical presence[s] set up and your products are set to charge taxes, orders should be taxed appropriately. You can, however, select whether or not you would like to charge tax on shipping rates under "Settings" > "Shipping".
