New to Shopify with Fashion Face Masks - Can I sell these?

Hi! I'm new to Shopify and decided to scale up my business due to the increase in demand for my masks. I have designer fabric from NY and have been making fun fashion face masks. Some are with the patterns of luxury designers (LV, Gucci, Chanel, etc..). These have been my biggest sellers just through my IG account. My clients all know that these are not authentic designer masks because these designers don't create masks). Anyhow, before I spend anymore time building my store, I was wondering if Shopify just isn't the right platform to sell my fashion masks? Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hiya, I would say after watching Renae Christines video about this, don't sell them on shopify. At any other time you would have been fine. But for some reason shopify are pulling people's items or suspending shops if they are selling anything corvid 19 related. I think even if you put them as rave masks or dust masks it could be flagged. (which they are as well, burning man attendees use this style as dust masks). Also because they feature designer logos I have no idea if they would get flagged. I think use shopify for all your other products. Which is what I, m going to do. And use a different platform for your masks like squarespace, bigcartel, strikingly,.
For Renae Christine, s YouTube just search her name her channel is cupcake trainings. I hope that helps.

Hi again. Ok I follow a lady who is making and selling fabric face masks here on shopify. She specifically titles them as fabric face masks. As well as putting disclaimer that they are not medical grade but can help you stop touching your face, catch droplets from coughs and sneezes. And says about washing hands, social distancing, sanitizer is best way to prevent spread. So maybe it depends on how you title and describe your product? Also she has gotten alot of attention on social media, online magazines for her masks. As she is also exploring them as pieces of wearable art. Many are highly embellished with sequins, barbie heads or simple with patches. Going for £25-£100 with total money from the Lego one going to charity. Maybe even contact the risk team at shopify?

Do not depend on any platform/service to sell any covid19 related items if you do so your are taking the risk of being deplatformed.

This also applies to payment gateways, do not attach pre-existing business accounts to these items without express written permission from these services.

If you are spooling up a business to capitalize on the pandemic be prepared with redundancy.

If you have any or marketing or products even slightly tangential to products that are sensitive during a pandemic it is very likely to become bycatch caught in any nets meant to catch abusers that left unchecked will cause much bigger problems for that platform.

Do not rely on forum responders, always contact support for that service directly and be patient as everyone is affected so expect and plan for delays.

But support dont reply. I have had two shopify sites hit with products being removed from them. Some of the products are car care coatings an (199% unrelate dto COVID. I have also had face masks removed which ive sold for years) and also hand sanitisers. No explanation apart from a generic email and i have now sent 4 emails to support asking for clarification and also informing them that manufacturers are seeing a 600% price increas ein raw materials which are being passed on down the chain..but again o replies. In the menatime un COVID products are being removed from my site which are the same price they were 4 years ago. Excuse me for thinking shopify are attempting to play god in an arena where they dont actually have a clue what is going on and when challenged just stick their head in the sand

Interesting do those products come with masks or have salescopy with any possibly sensitive words besides "care"?

That's true for ANY infrastructure you do not explicitly own; it is thier platform and thier business to protect as they see fit and as resources allow.

60 hours now and still no reply...and yet there is time to reply on here. Yes i know theres a pandemic! Your attitude and replies are nothing short of condescending. Companies are going bankrupt, people becoming unemployed and for those that are still managing to run ecommerce businesses shopify stick the knife in and make things that little bit harder as if they werent already. No im not the only business affected, it seems there is a very broad sword with no definitive guidelines or pattern as to what they are deleting and i have a long list of examples from the four shopify sites i run. Two i am already in the process of finding alternative hosting and support and then the others will follow. The day a host service provider makes me feel like im peddling kiddie porn and treats my company this way is the day we say goodbye and i think i wont be the only one. I hope others take the same action who are being treated this way.

No they dont but surely the word 'care' shoulnt be enough to play god with somebodys business and more investigation is needed. These are people livelihoods we are talking about here. its not a game !!!

They are far from protecting it by treating the innocent as the guilty. Is that the shopify way......Guilty until proven innocent...i would say yes as we have the evidence to show that is true.

As above...condescending!!!!

My website has been also shut down. It has been selling sanitising sprays and gels for years online - all supported by scientific studies and even have lab reports on our products and sell hand sanitiser at the same price as the major supermarkets. Their reply is that the documentation is not good enough for “their banking partners” . So basically Shopify is bending over and getting buggered by the banks. Not good enough Shopify.

Well I could say that no more products related to this pandemic. Even though my friends have sold items about santinizer, facemask, perfume... for 2 years also get prohibited from selling these. One more thing, when you want to sell online, besides your main/primary store or website, you must have at least 2 or more stores/website in your selling network. My main product about nutrition foods somehow relate a little to this Covid-19 pandemic get some problem but my other store/site is OK. That's how you operate your online business. Good luck for you then.
