Automatic discount problem

Hi,

I have a problem with automatic discounts. I have 2 collections: Family and Kids toys. 

I want to create a discount "buy x get y" that when customers buy from Family collection they get Kids toys -20% discount.

The problem: How can I set that customer gets the discount on ALL Kids toys -products? There is the "Customer gets" -section, but it should be specified for the amount.

Do I have an option to offer a discount to my customers - no matter do they buy 1pcs or 12pcs (from Kids toys -collection)?

Sophia here from Shopify.

Currently, the automatic Buy X Get Y discount settings require a quantity to be specified in the Customer gets section. This discount will allow customers to buy 1 product from Family and get 20% off of a specific number of products from Kids Toys—whichever numbers you set being the number of products customers will need to add to the cart.

You can set a percentage discount that allows customers to get 20% off of everything in a particular collection with a minimum purchase amount or minimum quantity of items, though this wouldn't require purchase of a product from the Family collection first, so customers could potentially checkout with only items in the Kids Toys collection.

To create an automatic BXGY discount for 1 product from Family and 20% off of any/all of the Kids Toys collection, you can use an app like Automatic Discount & Gift or Discount Ninja. These apps offer additional features that may be of interest to you, such as custom badges and messaging to increase awareness of current promotions on your store.

I appreciate the desire for more flexibility in the discount settings within the admin, so I would be happy to submit this feature request and specific use case to our developers on your behalf. Please let me know if there are any other details you'd like to add to the feature request. Thank you!

Do you know does those Apps (which you recommended) include the possibility to give a discount - whatever the quantity is? I described that challenge in my 1.st post.

This is an accepted solution.

Yes, both apps will allow you to create a discount for customers to buy 1 product from Family and get 20% off of any/all products from Kids Toys. In other words, the 20% discount would apply to as many products from the Kids Toys collection as the customer has added to the cart, so long as they have at least 1 product from the Family collection in the cart as well.

I took a look at both apps in my test store. With the Automatic Discount & Gift app, you can use the "Specific items" offer under "Smart Deals" to specify 20% off for a collection and set a cart requirement of 1 product from another collection. With Discount Ninja, the "Percentage off order" allows you to offer the same deal.

Both apps offer free trials, so you can add each to your store and test them with your promotion to determine which will work best for you. For help with setting up a promotion, you can contact the app developer by clicking "Get support" next to the app name under Apps in your admin. I hope this is helpful!

Hi,

I tried Automatic Discount & Gift -App, but I didn't manage to create to deal.

"With the Automatic Discount & Gift app, you can use the "Specific items" offer under "Smart Deals" to specify 20% off for a collection and set a cart requirement of 1 product from another collection."

1. I did Smart deals >> Specific items: I added the collection which I want to give -20% discount (Kids toys) in "Specific products in cart"

2. I added Family -collection to the "Cart requirement" AND the rule "quantity bigger or equal to: 1"

3. Clicked save - the discount doesn't show on the cart page?

This particular promotion type needs to be connected to a rule or shared in a link to apply automatically at checkout.

When a Smart deal has the Active flag beside it in the app, customers can manually type it into the Automatic Discount & Gift deal popup on your store. Alternatively, you can create a rule or provide customers with a deal link to apply the promotion automatically.

The app developer has a video on how to use a smart deal here. Since this is a third-party app, I recommend contacting the app developer for further setup support if you're stuck, as they'll be able to provide the most efficient and accurate advice.

Thank you for the reply @Sophia 

I loaded the discount ninja -App and created the discount - it works.

Only problem: After I publish the discount -> the product pages "add to the cart" -text's language changed itself. I have one language store (Finnish) and I've translated the original theme from English to Finnish. Now some buttons are back to the original language (English) - what could be wrong?

I'm glad to hear that the Discount Ninja app helped you set up the promotion!

I haven't run into the language translation issue before, but Discount Ninja has some instructions here that may help you: Tweak text, localize and translate. If you're having any trouble with the steps provided there, please get in touch with Discount Ninja directly, either through the Get support option on their Shopify App Store page, under Apps > Get support in your admin, or through the chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner of their Help Center.
