Hi, Private Playground owner!
First of all, I checked your site on Semrush, which shows for what keywords the site is shown on organic search results on Google, and Semrush showed no results at all. Seems your site doesn’t contain enough keywords to help Google evaluate what your site is about and rank it for target keywords, of course it also has to do with the fact that your site is comparatively new.
Indeed, your site lacks keywords mentioned in page titles, texts and headings. Each page on your site - home page, category page, subcategory page and product page - should be optimized for keywords which people usually type in the search, when looking for the products you sell. Let’s take your home page – title is ok, but no content on the home page - a big loss, also the heading wrapped in H1 says “Private Playground”, I would rather include some main keywords there. The worse situation is with category pages : for example http://www.privateplayground.com.au/collections/rabbit-vibrators. The title has only Rabbit Vibrators keyword, however, I checked in http://adwords.google.com/keywordplanner and Semrush – there are also keywords like “best rabbit vibrator”, “rabbit vibrator Australia”, and so on. So please do proper keyword research and then optimization – it is called on-site SEO optimization – it will help you a lot. See how much text is on this page, for example, https://onestopadultshop.com.au/masturbators, they did so, because it is helps SEO.
Remember, that you should write unique descriptions. At present they are copied from the main text of the page. And don’t use the H2-H4 tags as links, they should be a plain text (heading). Links should be links without H tags.
While we are on the content topic, let me tell you a few words about blog optimization. Even a bit of keyword research shows that there are plenty of informational searches related to your niche, which people do online. For example, they google “how to use rabbit vibrator”, “how to use bullet vibrator”, “how a vibrator works” – they are topics for which you can write the blog posts and optimize. Blog post recommendations: at least 800 words of text (not images, text), target keywords included, unique content, on average – 2 posts per week.
Regarding your question why your site is not shown on Google for “private playground” – it could be because the term is usually used in other meaning, like children playground, playground to play (check the pages which Google shows for this query), so Google treats it as a query of people who look for general information and not for adult content, that is why all results it shows are on general topic and are not related to adult topic in any way.
Your site hasn’t Google Analytics and Google Console (former Webmaster Tools) installed, it is a must. When you have it, check whether the target region is Australia and see whether any messages from Google hasn’t been received. You have a very rapid growing link mass and it could be dangerous.
Speaking about link mass. Firstly, the region. If you want to be ranked on Australian Google, you need to have at least some of links from Australian sources. http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20150915-zdyr-51kb. As the sources which link to your site- keep away from shady practices, don’t allow links from suspicious sites which are not quote related to your niche, it won’t do any good in a long run and even can be harmful. Also please, stick to moderate pace at which you grow the link mass, very sharp growth may catch Google’s attention. However, so far, I like the anchors you use in the links, they are not dangerous since related to your brand name.
Try to make more subcategories and filters for each category. For example there is a huge amount of keywords for Dildos that you didn’t use in the optimization of your website. Just look at the Keyword Planner (http://adwords.google.com/keywordplanner). Don’t forget to turn off the Adult Filter on the left side of the service.
I also noticed that you have presence on social. I know that it might be difficult to promote the page on Facebook, because it bans adult content and deletes posts. But as to the Pinterest – I would suggest that pictures you currently post are not Pinterest-friendly, Pinterest users like great visuals. I am not sure it is worth the time and efforts at present, but if do promo on Pinterest, I would try posting something like professionally made photos of people, like here for instance: https://www.pinterest.com/fra411/bodies-and-skin/
I hope my answer is helpful. If you have any questions left, feel free to drop me a line.
So let’s start from the mirror of your website http://pawz4petz.myshopify.com. You should setup the 301 redirect from all possible mirrors of your website to the main http://www.pawz4petz.co.uk/. If not, you will end up having the page duplicates in the Google index which will decrease your pages power and traffic to the site.
Also you should do the same (setup 301 redirect) for all duplicates within your website. All versions should lead to http://www.pawz4petz.co.uk/. These are some of duplicates of your main page:
Speaking about headings, you have the same problem as the most of other websites here. Use them only in plain text, no logo wrapped in H1 tag. Please keep in mind that there should be only one H1 tag per page (this is the main headline of each page; you should use your main keyword in H1 tag for current page).
Also try to setup the structured data for your product pages and contact page it can improve your website ranking and also will make your website pages look more beautiful in the Google search results, and attract more clicks J
And as always, I would really recommend to improve and expand the semantic core of your website – meaning do some more optimization works on titles, texts and headings. Research more keywords for each of your pages (home page, product pages, category pages) using Keyword Planner (http://adwords.google.com/keywordplanner). For example: the title for the page http://pawz4petz.myshopify.com/collections/dog-beds “title>Dog Beds | pawz4petz</title>” is too short, I would recommend include more keywords, I am sure people google dog beds using other word combination as well. Plus, try to write more unique texts (for all categories and subcategories) this will improve your website ranking.
We haven't "officially" launched our Shopify yet, we're gearing up for a launch with a marketing push very soon so I thought this would be a great opportunity for some additional feedback!
Our Shopify site is an extension of our Wordpress site - we're interested in seeing if we can rely LESS on Etsy and have more control over how we market, etc. We've not had much traffic and no sales, but again, we haven't officially begun promoting anything.
Thanks so much!
It's been about a month since I posted requesting advice, but it seems you've skipped us?
Would really appreciate feedback at www.hydarafabricsnyc.com.
