Hi Kerri,

I’d recommend you to write and add some content to your site optimized for your niche keywords. Your website doesn’t seem to have any unique text http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151102-0lju-54kb. For duplicate text issue use Siteliner.com.

How I recommend to start out: the first thing, you should collect all the keywords to build a semantic core for your site. For keyword ideas, you can use Google Keyword Planner (http://adwords.google.com/keywordpnner) or Semrush - http://www.semrush.com/ (it is a paid service). Group keywords and use them on landing pages. For example, here is the part of the list of possible keywords for the violet wands page http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151028-c09z-100kb.

I noticed you don’t have redirects from www version to non-www. It is one of the issues that should be fixed with 301 redirects asap. http://elektra-uk.net/blogs/news/67330563-electroplay-workshop-in-northampton-10-10-15, http://www.elektra-uk.net/blogs/news/67330563-electroplay-workshop-in-northampton-10-10-15.

To go through the all site issues, you can check my checklist after analyzing dozens of ecommerce sites. https://www.promodo.com/blog/ecommerce-seo-checklist-how-to-survive-in-ecommerce-seo-maze.

I don’t have access to your Google Search Console, but I would recommend to make sure that the right region is selected in Google Search Console. If not – change it to the UK region (if you want to target it). And it would be great if you add more contact information to the contact page (address, phone, skype, ect.).

And finally, develop a safe strategy of link-acquisition. You really need links if you want to be ranked better in future.

Regards, Lena

Hello, Ben!

I looked through your website and ready to provide some advice.

  1. Your website has a lot of duplicate Title metatags. Here is the list of URLs which have the same Title:

All URLs should contain unique Titles, Descriptions, H1 and Content. Try to follow this rule. Check Google Search Console for all possible duplicates in Titles and Descriptions (Google usually highlights them)

Also from the above list you can find out that you have duplicated pages with capital letters in the URLs:

The solution here is to set up the 301 redirect from all URLS with capital letters to the URLs without them.

  1. Your website has poor semantic core - http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151028-o6bc-26kb

Improve it by analyzing your competitors, researching new keywords with the help of Google Keyword Planner (http://adwords.google.com/keywordpnner), Semrush, Ubersuggest, Google autocomplete and Google Trends tool.  For example, for the pages with gold rings there are tons of keywords that you can use http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151028-tkae-82kb. You just need to create right website structure for each group of keywords. To understand the structure, also you can look through the most popular websites in your niche. Typically the most optimal site structure is considered to be a tree-like structure. In this post my colleague mentioned such structure: http://www.shopifythemes.net/blogs/news/14512277-tips-on-how-to-solve-the-most-common-shopify-seo-pr....

Hi Lena,

Could you look at my site and offer some advise & direction  www.shopbodysense.com

We had a website before the manufacture had a site.  When they got there site we still did ok, but then they put up an Amazon shopping cart, since then we have lost tons of business.

How do we compete with an Amazon shopping cart?

Also, I've been working with a SEO Aribitor for 6 months now, its not helping orders, the page rankings are improving but I'm not sure its worth the money.  What is your opinion?

Thank you,

Pam Stuckey

Hey Lena,

we are running our store now since 2012 and results are pretty good so far. But there's always room for improvement. If you have feedback for us that would be great.

Hi Lena,

Our store has different handcrafted products that are not related to each other and I'm finding it difficult to make the site work.  I know I could use some more content but wondering if you could give any other advice? http://cool-invent.com

Thanks,

Hi, Pam!

Unfortunately, I can’t help you with recommendations about Amazon shopping cart, I didn’t work with it yet. As for your question about SEO Aribitor, I can’t say either they work good or bad because I don’t know what KPI you have and what goals you aim. I looked through your competitor’s keywords and your keywords. Your site is ranking for 287 different keywords - http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151104-yvcg-58kb, and one of your competitor’s website is ranking for 1166 keywords - http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151104-rqkx-69kb. So I think there is a lot of stuff to do with SEO part of your website. Also, I noticed that your backlink profile is a bit strange. There are 1757 backlinks to your website and only 69 domains - http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151104-xzut-57kb. So, most of these backlinks are site wide backlinks. This is not looking as a natural link building and Google can punish you for this. Try to make your link profile look more natural. Well-done SEO can be not cheap, but it will pay off to you.

Here are some technical problems to fix:

Hope my answer helped you to handle some problems!

Regards, Lena.

Hey, Hannes!

You have some troubles with script loading, here is the screenshot http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151104-fnx0-195kb.

  • Here is the list of broken links on your website:

I recommend you to fix all links you need and delete those ones that are not needed.

  • It’s great that you are using internal linking on your project. But your home page should get the majority of links from internal pages and not other internal pages. Here is the list of pages that outperform your home page by the number of referring internal pages:
  • You can add rel=”nofollow” tag to all links that you don’t need to rank (such as http://www.takeashot.de/search) this will add some weight to other links which are more important for ranking.
  • Try to add more contact information to the Contact page. You will get more credibility in the eyes of your visitors if you will place your address, phone, skype, google map)

Hope that was helpful!

Regards, Lena!

Hi, Anastasia!

First of all, I couldn’t find any contact info on your web store. The only thing that connect user with you is a shopping cart. But what if your visitors have questions about your product? Besides contacts add credibility to the website. You should add the Contact Page with different contact information (phone, email, address, Skype, etc.)

Also you have some Google Structured Data errors on the product pages - https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool?url=http%253A%252F%252Fcuteandbroke.com%2... . Try to fix them.

Try to improve your website structure. There are only 4 categories now. If you extend the amount of categories you will cover more keywords and in this way more segments of your potential audience. For example, let’s take leggings. Here is the screenshot http://my.jetscreenshot.com/1321/20151104-7fow-63kb with only one part of potential keywords for leggings niche. You can create subcategories or filters and optimize them with new keywords (write title, description, h1, content for each group of keyword). Here is an example of them for Black leggings:

Title: Black leggings for women at CuteAndBroke.com

Description: Our store presents you a great variety of black leggings with good prices.

H1: Black Leggings

Hope that helps you with improving your store.

Regards, Lena.
