I use MOZ to check for crawl errors weekly, since my site has gobne from http to https I'm getting mulitply crawl errors reported, they are either Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered or Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received. 47 crawl error were reported this week, I don't know if it's linked to the change from http to https but I used to get one or two and these were never error code 803 or 804.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know how I can improve the crawl on my site or if indeed it is just a blip, I'm working to improve my SEO so don't want this to effect it.

Hey Rachel,

With 804, it sounds like those pages might still be loading http content when they should really be loading https. Got a link to one of the urls being flagged? Seeing an example might help the forum members highlight any possible issues.

I have recently done the same update from HTTP to HTTPS

Am receiving

Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received

Your page did not send a complete response to the Moz Crawler's request. Our crawler is pretty standard, so it's likely that other browsers and crawlers may also encounter this error. If you have this error on your homepage, it prevents the Moz crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site.

Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received

Here is the example they gave. I can access the page?

This is still an issue for me only now I'm getting:

Error Code 904: Response from Server Timed out Without Completing Page Request

https://www.tangled-yarn.co.uk/collections/malabrigo-yarn/products/malabrigo-arroyo

Error Code 608: Page not Decodable as Specified Content Encoding

https://www.tangled-yarn.co.uk/collections/rosy-green-wool/products/heb-merino-fine

Error Code 803: Incomplete HTTP Response Received

https://www.tangled-yarn.co.uk/collections/knitting-patterns/products/wispy-cardi

Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered

https://www.tangled-yarn.co.uk/collections/rosy-green-wool/products/rosy-green-shade-card

I've 39 errors like this, not sure what it means or if I need to do something. Any ideas anyone?

I'm new to Shopify and I too ran a MOZ report and getting 3 803 errors.  I look at the pages, and I don't see anything wrong.

Hi Folks,

Britton here with the Shopify support team.

I've been having a read through of this thread and one possibility for the 803 errors showing up on MOZ is that they may not be able to use SNI (Server Name Indication extension). If they don't use SNI then it would make sense that Shopify stores with an SSL certificate would pull up errors like that.

We can't help troubleshoot MOZ's service directly, but that could be a good place to start with some of these errors.

I hope that helps!

Jordan -

Looks like it is an issue with Moz and they have a beta test in the works to fix this. These same error issues happen with SEMrush as well.

Here's a link to Moz's response about their beta test: https://moz.com/community/q/error-codes-803-804-on-shopify-site-crawl
