Do you drive the traffic to the landing page or just general pages?

Hi there,

I'm new here and so excuse me if my question has been answered earlier somewhere on this forum.

I'm asking myself whether to drive traffic from ads to home, product or collections pages? Maybe use some Shopify apps to build the custom landing page?

What's your pracice? Any comments are welcomed.

Generally it depends on the product - but with some creativity, you can actually make your collection pages and product pages do everything you need. In general a landing page takes your user one step back from the checkout - so unless you need a massive explainer on the USP of your products - i would avoid this where possible.

Kind regards

Jo

Hi Tony,

Landing page for your Advert/Posts is one of the most important aspects in determining the bounce rate and ultimately the conversions. If you don't lead your audience to a page that describes what they initially saw, there is a high chance that they will leave without any sort of engagement.

It doesn't help a potential customer if she goes from a specific product ad to a generic website. If you have a lot of products, imagine the amount of time she'll have to spend looking for that one specific product. It's best that you lead your customers directly to the particular product page or a landing page that describes the significance of the particular product.

You don't have to build landing pages from scratch. There are lots of services which will let you create a landing page in really less time.

We at OrangeTwig use Instapage to make landing pages for our different features and offerings. Check out some of our landing pages designed using Instapage:

1. Hashtags.orangetwig.com

2. Clickablepost.orangetwig.com

3. Instacommenting.orangetwig.com

I hope this helps.

Hi Tony:

It's a really good question, let me explain you what i do.

When i create Adwords campaigns for my customers, i usually use general store keywords to make the ads that land on the hompepage. Then i also create specific keywords for each product that my customer sells and make it land on their respective product pages.

One important thing when creating the keywords for landing on the homepage is making sure that the keywords are relevant. This way you can keep your bounce rate low.

Hope it helped you!

@Jo

Thanks for a quick guidance :)

@Karan

Thanks for the direct advice with landing page service. I've took a look at the Instapage. I'm curious why did you decide to work with it comparing with other tools available on the market. I see there is the Unbounce, Wishpond is popping up in my mind. What do you like in Instapage? I'll give a try.

@Rodrigo,

Thanks for the valuable insight. I'm curious why drive traffic to the product page instead of the landing page. Just wondering it's because the time consuming to create the specific page promoting the product...

Hi Tony:

You are right about the time consuming, when you are doing your own campaigns you usually just put general keywords of your shop.

But what happens when a potential customer is searching for a specific product that you are selling but you did not put it as keywords? You lose that sale, that's why we always do it this way, we try to reach all the customers possible.

But definitely i have to agree with you it is really time consuming for a single store owner to make all that work alone.

Product Page is a good start since my ads message about the producr rather about the brand.
