Duplicate meta descriptions

Hello, I notice in my webmaster tools, that goggle is flagging duplicate meta discripptions for a page that has several pages of items.

Is there anything I can do about this? As I'm aware that googles not keen on duplicate meta stuff, I have linked the page below.

It's not really an issue. That report is quite basic and should only be used as a hint at possible issues. Duplicate descriptions will not hurt you, but they can be an indication that you have other duplicate issues or that you are poorly writing your descriptions. For pagination, this is not the case.

Saying that, it's nice to have clean scores.

Something like this at the end of any paginated pages should fix things:

<script type="text/javascript">
	try {
		var pagesMatch = window.location.href.match(/[?&]page=([0-9]*).*/);
		if (pagesMatch != null && pagesMatch.length == 2 && pagesMatch[1] != "1") {
			var descriptionTag = document.querySelector("meta[name='description']");
			if (descriptionTag != null)
				descriptionTag.setAttribute("content", "Page "+pagesMatch[1]+ ": " + descriptionTag.getAttribute("content"));
	catch (ex) {}

Hi Tony,

Very helpful reply! What is paginated pages exactly? Should this code be put in the theme.liquid before </body> or in product.liquid?
