Duplicate site content SEO issue

Hi,

I've recently heard of duplicate site content being an issue with a domain name. For example, google lists both the http and https version of your website on their search pages rather than just one of them.

I've had a look around on this topic and in all honesty I've become even more confused.

My questions is the following: Is there a way to check whether this is an issue with your website? I also know that google asks you to add all versions of your website on google webmaster but wouldn't this be counterintuitive with the duplicate site issue (or am I just being a bit thick)?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Your site has canonical meta tags in place that sets the prefered / default domain. eg:

<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.damesanddimes.co.uk/" />

This should help with duplicate content issues between two domains since the canonical will point to only one domain. As for which one is shown, that's down to the domain you set as the primary within the Domain Settings in your Admin dashboard.
