Editing the sitemap.xml urls

Is there any way to edit the sitemap.xml file generated by Shopify?

I was able to change all my URLs to httpS rather than http using Cloudflare flexible SSL, but a problem that arises is that the sitemap still link to http:// urls.

Website: https://ketelson.com

Sitemap: https://ketelson.com/sitemap.xml

Thanks

Hello Oliver, Ben here - your Shopify Guru!

 You cannot edit the sitemap. We have documentation on what you can do to exlude items from your robots.txt however here:

https://docs.shopify.com/support/your-website/navigation/robots-txt

I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions :)

Is this related to the fact that images do not show up in Google marketing attempts?  Just wondering if that issue has been fixed.

And does Shopify plan on converting to https any time soon, and will this alleviate the issue?

I had a similar problem and ended up not using the Shopify Sitemap XML. Instead, create a new page template like page.xml.liquid and replace the default code with this:

{% layout none %}
{{ page.content }}

Then create a new "Page", use the <> code button and paste in all of your XML. Choose your new page.xml template and then submit the URL to Google -- should be something like yourstore.com/pages/sitemap-xml.  This works well if you need a separate video sitemap xml file too.

Good luck.

Hi Peter,

I have tried your solution, but Google Search Console keeps saying that the file format is not supported. Tried several file options but does not seem to work.. Is your solutions still working ? It looks like google really needs a file .html or .xml to process it and I am not able to create files with an extension.

Any suggestions ?

Regards, Arno
