I buy wholesale products to resell in my store. To be compliant with google shopping, I need to enter GTIN for the products. All of my products are branded. The GTIN (UPC/SKU/EAN) info is not listed on the product websites, the invoices, the packaging itself or on the manufacturer tags.
The first one is the only option. As submitting invalid data can get the products disapproved. Always fill out accurate data.
Bar Codes can only be officially registered GS1 codes, by the manufacturer.
Continue to communicate with your suppliers.
Hi. Thank you for the response. I did have a few vendors finally respond to me since this post. They do not have GTIN information for their products. So I changed the identifier_exists to no, resubmitted those products and again they were denied (for the reason the barcode isn’t the right length). The barcode cell is blank, so I’m not sure what gives?
Go to google merchant center > products > all products > click on the specific product > check the final attributes.
Make sure brand, mpn and gtin attributes are empty and identifier exists is set to no.
Hi! Here is where I am at......
In the google merchant center (products - feeds - feed rules) I had to add identifier exists as a attribute and set the rule to know. I then went to the individual products and made sure the attributes were blank. 44 products were still disapproved due to incorrect product identifiers.
You (and these forums) have helped me far greater than anyone at google - google ad support has provided 0% assistance. They keep reading the same scripted responses and insist that identifiers must exist if the products are getting denied. But I have correspondence from the actual brands that they do not and if I want GTIN information I would need to to buy them.
Only the manufacturer can buy and assign bar codes, not resellers, so do not do this.
Simply make sure what I suggested is done and if they are still disapproved, you can ask the manufacturer, to submit a manufacturer feed with all the correct info. This may allow you to get the products correctly listed. https://www.google.com/retail/solutions/manufacturer-center/
However if you want me to physically look into your data, let me know. Maybe there is something that was overlooked.
Thank you! I am still getting the same error messages re: GTIN. I looked at every listing and the identifiers_exist is set to no. I am on the road, but will look this link over later tonight. And yes, please send me some information on what I need to do to have you look over this for me! I really appreciate it!
