i am honesty exhausted mentally trying to keep up with all these social media accounts. I started with Facebook, twitter, Pinterest and instagram. I then widdled it down to just facebook and instagram, but Now I am considering just focusing hard on one platform. I am redoing my site as it is real slow at the moment, but I sell apparel and accessories for dog lovers. I have had a ton of success on etsy, but the web store is still just a baby.
So..what are your thoughts on focusing social efforts solely on either Pinterest or instagram? Those platform seem to have the most engaged dog owner audience from what I have researched. Thanks for any feedback.

I do not find anything wrong in focusing your efforts in one social platform. Distributing your efforts in 5 platforms and only 1 performs would be a great decision if you just go full-time on that specific platform. Either you choose Pinterest or Instagram, you can have the option to connect the social platform to Facebook and Twitter - meaning you will only have to focus updating one platform and automate the rest. What your update in Pinterest/Instagram can be posted on Facebook + Twitter in an automated way. Have you heard about ifttt.com? Its a tool that can help you manage your time more.
Good luck on your ecommerce business!
I have tried some of the tools like Buffer, but I guess my line of thought is this.....is it worth my time to try and be on all of these social networks, especially if I am just rehashing the same content, or should I just try to go hardcore with one? Since I mostly sell apparel, I feel like instagram and/or pinterest would fit my demographic target. I dont get much action on facebook and twitter hasnt produced much for me either.
When I first started I had this mindset that I needed to be everywhere, but now I am not so sure that is the best strategy for me personally. I am just kind of thinking through my keyboard here, but is there a real benefit to being on all social networks vs. just 1 or 2?
You're using terms like "feel like this is the best platform", so I assume you haven't had actual success with any of them? In that case; start with all major platforms for a month and see which ones perform best. Then eliminate the ones that don't work and focus all your time and attention on the one platform that hugely outperforms the others (80/20 rule).
But I wouldn't just go and "guess" that one platform is gonna be amazing and never test others, that's probably gonna bite you.
Best of luck!
I am with you on focussing on one platform and growing audience there.
You said that your initial pick was Facebook and Instagram and now you’re going to choose between these. I’d suggest that you go with Instagram. It’s an easier channel to grow audience and sales.
All you need to do is post beautiful content and include right hashtags in your post text. OrangeTwig’s hashtag research tool will be perfect for this. Learn more about the hashtag research tool here.
With OrangeTwig, you’ll also be able to make all your posts on Instagram clickable. In Instagram, only one link (in the bio) is clickable. Ideally, this link will be your shop url. The only problem with having a generic link is that your customers need to go your shop and find the product that they liked. There is no immediate gratification. This leads to lost sales. With clickable link in your bio, you can take your customers to specific products. Immediate gratification will lead to better conversions. Learn more about clickable post here.
Another thing that I feel really helps get traffic is posting different types of content. Here’s an article that’ll help you with ideas.
I hope this helps. Good luck!
As it is said above, i would a/b test all the platforms and see which one it's giving you the best results, then you can focus all your efforts only on that platform.

Working smart vs. working hard = always good decision. You know of 80/20 rule? 20% efforts bring 80% results - always, in any situation. That means that only 20% of your social media activity so far brings 80% of the results you have. You should always narrow down and focus only on doing the 20% to maintain the same results. Simply discover which platform delivers the best results [traffic, engagement, conversion] and focus on it. Make your strategy stronger, post better content, and you will find that by doing less work your results will be getting better :)
