Hi Alex -
Just an update. Still struggling with getting discovered by google for the product pages. There seems to be a small incremental increase in pages that are indexed but the vast majority still is not (product pages). One thing I have noticed is that google has indexed mostly short URL products and not long URL ones. Wondering if we should change how shopify creates a URL?
Not sure you'll have any more ideas but I also thought someone else might see this and have thoughts.
Best,
Manuel
Alex -
as usual I have another thought after sending my original message.
please note how google discovers way more http pages than https pages, but as far as I can tell when I open the website it defaults to https.
Given that we have about 630 products loaded by now I am also a bit surprised that it is not discovering closer to 600.
Best,
Manuel
Alex and anyone else who sees this.
we have not made any progress with the Google Search Console. We've added hundreds of new products and they are not indexing many. Please see screenshot. We are completely stumped on how to fix this issue. Each of our product pages is unique, so it is important that is indexed. We do our best to include important SEO aspects (ALT text, meta description, good keywords,...).
Any help is appreciated. We are desperately trying to get some traction on search engines.
Thanks,
lovelyantiqueprints.com team
Hi Lovely Antique Prints,
I was looking around your site to see if I could spot the problem for the indexing issue you have and I have seen something else that may cause you problems.
Your colelction pages are duplicating themselves with how they have been built for example:
https://lovelyantiqueprints.com/collections/amphibians/Amphibians and lovelyantiqueprints.com/colle... basically duplicates of each other. This is massively affect your collection pages from ranking as they will cancel eachother out.
It seems that alot of your collection pages have a tag page that is a direct replicate of it.
All these pages self canonical where one should be canonicaling to the other.
Without knowing exactly how you have put this together the solution looks like it would be setting up your navigation to the collection pages and trying to alter the canonical tag on the tag page to go back its collection.
I am still having a look at your product issue but wanted to make you aware of this.
