Hi, So we have been making good progress in the search results for our website https://www.brideboutique.co.uk and are hitting page one in a number of searchs now.
My question is when you search for something like "wedding hair combs" we come up 7th on 1st page of google UK but the link displays our homepage rather than our Wedding Hair Combs collection: https://www.brideboutique.co.uk/collections/wedding-hair-combs
This hapens on other search too like Wedding Hair Accessories which again links to our homepage.
Can someone tell us why this is happening?
Thanks, Michelle x

Google's algorithm for relevancy takes over 200 different factors when sorting through options. Probably the most important one in this case is PageRank which Google talks more in depth here:
"PageRank is the measure of the importance of a page based on the incoming links from other pages. In simple terms, each link to a page on your site from another site adds to your site's PageRank. Not all links are equal: Google works hard to improve the user experience by identifying spam links and other practices that negatively impact search results. The best types of links are those that are given based on the quality of your content."
Because your homepage has a higher pagerank Google is most likely ranking it as the most relevant page a user is going to need.
Another factor that can affect this is other relevancy factors on the page itself and the description of the meta title and description. Google doesn't take keywords into account as heavily as it used to however it's still a big piece. Taking a look at your homepage versus your hair accessories page we can see occurrences of the keywords hair and accessories many times on the home page right at the top of the page.
When I did a relevant search myself in Google both pages ranked next to each other on page two so both are working very well in your favour. Your homepage according to Google is just slightly more relevant. :)
Do let me know if you have any questions! I'm happy to discuss this further.
