I installed the Google Shopping App and was wondering if anybody could help set it up. I'm not too sure what to enter in the following tabs:
Custom Label 0,1,2,3,4 and 5, Google Adwords Labels, Google Adwords Group.
My site is www.nitelytes.com If anybody could give me there ideas then that would be greatly appreciated.
Jordan here from Shopify :)
The 'Google AdWords grouping' and 'Google Adwords labels' fields were previously used to run AdWords campaigns, but they are now deprecated in favor of Custom Labels.
The five Custom Label fields will help you subdivide your products in Google Shopping campaigns you create, using values of your choosing. This article from Google will better explain what these labels are, and how to use them:
Hope this helps! Cheers,
These fields have not been deprecated by Google in their Content API for Shopping. These fields are specific to Google Ads and useful there for reports and managing your ads.
Renaming of AdWords-related fields
With AdWords becoming Google Ads, the following AdWords-related fields have been renamed:
You can see these fields in Content API for Shopping Version 2.1 of their API
I'm personally interested in using product_detail and product_highlight fields. So this question is more about how to use Content API for Shopping fields, which are not available in Shopify's Google app.
I have thousands of products and I'm currently writing a script to import my fields into Shopify metafields (mm-google-shopping). I'm curious if there's some better documentation for Shopify's Google App as the current documentation only says there's no importer, and has no information on how Shopify uses these metafields or how to import them yourself.
Ideally what I'd like, is if the metafield is available for Content API for Shopping that this field is forwarded to Google Merchants.
Also please write an importer. Your current application doesn't do bulk editing like the old Google Shopping App did (you guys can already enable this by forwarding these metafields to your bulk edit form). Or simply just allow users to import these metafields via standard import/export if they're in the file.
