Hi I'm using a seo shopify app and when a scan is ran on the home page or any page an error always comes up stating that no h1 tag on page. I've searched all over google and I could not find the answer. I did manage to find a couple of other post about this subject in the forum from 2013 but at the top it states that the topic is outdated. Can someone please help?

Hey Matador - you're right. The theme you are using does not add the <h1> tags.

It's something you'd be able to add in, but I am not sure what theme you've got in place so can't give you any specific help. If you wanted to post a section of template code (not the whole page of code!) where the product titles are the forum members can give you some insight into what to change.

It could be as simple as finding this:

{{ product.title }}

and changing it to this:

<h1>{{ product.title }}</h1>

ok the product.title showed up 3 times when I searched for it in the product.liquid file

 <div class="product_wrap">
  <div class="row">
   <div class="col-sm-6 col-lg-5 product_images">
    {% if product.images.size != 0 %}
     {% if product.images.size > 1 %}
      {% for image in product.images limit:1 %}
       <img id="elevatezoom_big" src="{{ image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}" alt="{{ product.title | escape }}" data-zoom-image="{{ image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}" />
      {% endfor %}

      <div id="elevatezoom_gallery">
       {% for image in product.images %}
        <a href="#" data-image="{{ image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}" data-zoom-image="{{ image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}">
         <img src="{{ image.src | product_img_url: 'compact' }}" alt="{{ product.title | escape }}" />
        </a>
       {% endfor %}
      </div>
     {% else %}
      <img id="elevatezoom_big" class="fancybox" src="{{ product.featured_image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}" data-zoom-image="{{ product.featured_image.src | product_img_url: 'grande' }}" alt="{{ product.title | escape }}" />
     {% endif %}
    {% endif %}
   </div>

   <div class="col-sm-6 col-lg-7">
    <div itemprop="name" class="product_name">{{ product.title }}</div>

Good job on tracking those down. It will be the last one you want to look at, being this:

<div class="col-sm-6 col-lg-7">
    <div itemprop="name" class="product_name">{{ product.title }}</div>

Before  you make any change, created a duplicate of the theme. Make all the changes in the duplicate and when happy, publish it. This saves you from breaking the live theme.

You can change that block of html / liquid above into this:

<div class="col-sm-6 col-lg-7">
    <h1 itemprop="name" class="product_name">{{ product.title }}</h1>

This might effect the look of that title ever so slightly so you might want some additions css tweaks too. See how that goes.

GREAT! Now the seo app responds with h1 tag used on page.

The seo app still responds with no h1 tag used on home page.

Is there a way to add the h1 tag on the home page
