Perplexing Pixel Problems (external pixel script won't fire)

Hi All,

I'm sort of tearing my hair out here and am hoping that someone can set me straight.   I just implemented an ad tracking platform (Voluum) to both track and dictate marketing flows but I can't get the platform pixel script to work in the cart scripts section.  Right now I have it firing from a downstream "thanks" page which works fine, but outside of shopify the revenue variable is static (ie- I've hardcoded my average transaction value).

Pixel looks like this

<!--Voluum Pixel-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://track.track.com/conversion.js?payout=34.99"></script>

Question 1- Is there somethign wrong with that format in terms of Shopify?   Should I instead be using an actual pixel or a URL?

Pixel URL: http://track.track.com/conversion.gif?payout=34.99

Pixel Image: <img src="https://track.track.com/conversion.gif?payout=34.99" width="1" height="1"/>

Question 2- Once I get one of those to work, how do I dynamically populate the variable witht he actual transaction value?  In Shopify documentation I found {{ order.total_price }} but I'm not sure if that's correct.

Thanks!

Kevin
