Hi shopify community,

I am new on this forum and need your advice if you can help !

I am running a site in English and French using Langify app.

I am facing an SEO issue because the URLs are the same for the english and the french version except the ".com" for english and ".fr" for french. I can not change the URLs and adapt them to the language.

For example i have in French :

https://www.happydetoxtea.fr/collections/the-minceur/products/the-minceur-28-jours

And in English :

https://www.happydetoxtea.com/collections/the-minceur/products/the-minceur-28-jours

Which means, as I have all the URLs in french even in the english version of the site, SEO will always fail for the english site...

Do you know how I can fix this issue and adapt my URLs in English for the english version of the site?

Many thanks if you have any ideas!

SEO will always fail? What idea is that based on? It's not ideal but it is not as big of a problem as you make it out to be.

My idea comes from the fact that Google prefers to see the keyword you target in the URL. And in my solution, it si not possible for the english version, as it has the same URL as the French one. I know, it is not the only point about SEO, but it seems to be a quite important one.

The alternative is to setup stores on custom domains. That way you can have full language control over the URLs. In my opinion though, this creates more management work which can lead to inconsistency so it is not recommended for small stores. Internal systems and processes are a must if you proceed with this.
