How can I set up Goals on Google Analytics for specific product pages?
I have a product page that I currently run traffic to and I have built a new landing page for this product. I will run traffic to both pages and would like to compare the conversion rates using Google Goals.
This has been posted before https://www.digitaldarts.com.au/google-analytics-shopify and this guide works great for overall conversions for the entire website but I would like to create goals for specific products/pages leading to the checkout thank you page.
So you want to setup destination goals in analytics, this will let you track exact pages, flow to and from those pages and which buttons etc they clicked on.
Google Optimize will also run your A/B Testing and is part of the Google Marketing Suite so it integrates seamlessly with analytics
I currently have a product which I have built a new custom landing page for, I would like to compare it against the old standard product page.
So for example:
I would like to compare the conversion rates between these two pages, both are the same product but different landing pages.
Alright, I followed your first link to their custom setup and starting at the admin panel, this is what I did:
Analytics definitely makes it seem as though you could simply add another value, that's not the case here. Even Goal Flow only goes back 3 moves. Another destination goal is needed.
I went over to the left side of Admin Panel and setup another Goal -> Destination, this is that view. Then on the right I clicked "Ecommerce Settings".
From there you can enter exactly which parameters you want to watch and compare. I went the back end of your example.com URL
And clicked "save".
From there follow the main left side-bar navigation. At the bottom we have a dropdown called "Conversions". Open it up and go to Ecommerce -> Checkout Behavior.
The two parameters I set earlier are side by side, they offer a wealth of information! Unfortunately they won't tell you anything like clicks, that have already happened; but, you'll be able to see the nitty-gritty information on those two pages in the future.
I hope this helps you
I tried that solution and it is still not working for me.
So I followed the guide here: https://www.digitaldarts.com.au/google-analytics-shopify which works great for showing the stats for all products:
How the goal setup looks:
I followed Shopify's guide for a product-specific setup which is fine if the traffic is direct to the website but not if someone clicks on a Facebook Ad on mobile and gets viewed within Facebook's mobile browser. Shopify's guide: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/reports-and-analytics/google-analytics/google-analytics-goals-and...
Here is what it looks like:
How the goal setup looks:
For some reason, it doesn't track the traffic coming from Facebook mobile to the viewed product page?
I thought that was the view point you were trying to get around and split up, I'm so sorry
The Facebook information trade between analytics and pixel is still lacking something fierce. It doesn't help that Facebook is determined to keep everything feeling "native" until the actual point of checkout, so the API does a good job of pulling information in to keep everything looking and feeling the same to the customer. Facebook Ad Manager gets pretty in-depth, I've never seen a solution for completely integrating pixel to analytics, I don't mean there's not one, I simply haven't seen one yet. Fully integrated marketing metrics stumble through these two all the time. I recommend to my clients they get good at reading both Ad Manager and Analytics, start making monthly summary reports to avoid the headaches of keeping up with daily tracking between the two.
Yes, you can setup analytics to track Facebook by UTM, but it's really more data rich to let Facebook track Facebook in its own environment and Analytics to watch everything else.
It seemed like RichardB1 was asking the question that I would like answered but this thread took a different turn.
I am trying to figure out how to create a conversion goal in google analytics for a SPECIFIC product in my store rather than EVERY product. The reason I need this is because I am pushing the goal into google ads and I don't want google to learn from conversions of other products for my campaign on a specific product. Is there a way to create a goal on a specific product?
