Hi! I have not been using hashtags on my website-yet. Can anyone give me some advice about the best way to handle hashtags? For example: do you use 1 hashtag on each product? Do I need to add hashtags to all my selling venues-facebook, pinterest, ebay etc...
Thanks for all input.
Hashtags are generally used on social media sites to link similar items and products together. They're perhaps most used on Twitter and Instagram to make searchable groupings of similar products, or to build a specific hashtag for your brand and followers of it,
Mashable has a great overview of them and how they work: http://mashable.com/2013/10/08/what-is-hashtag/
Best practices are to put a few hashtags on each item, usually with varying degrees of relevance. For example, if I have a Toronto Argonauts football hoodies, I might tag it with:
or anything else that describes the item.
Hope that helps!
It depends on the volume of your social media content (yours and customers' Instagram photos). Of course, it is great to promote hashtags separately for each product, like BlackMilkClothing does: http://blackmilkclothing.com/collections/leggings/products/aurora-skye-leggings
It looks gorgeous and easily earns customers trust. But they have a huge amount of customers and fans on Instagram.
I recommend you to promote one or two hashtags related to your brand. That's much easy.
And if you have enough photos then you can display them like on our site - http://ssw-demo.myshopify.com/
