The thing is that I want to noinndex some pages. How do I do so?
I have tried a method on some youtube tutorial, but I do not know if my pages are noindex. How do I check that?
I have seen the help form and have find the article, but I do not understand. Kindly tell me by explaining this example- Suppose my page is www.xyz.com/shipping . Also let me know how do I check if that has worked

Hi tfm_webmaster, and Happy New Year! I took a quick look at your post and one thing did stand out to me.

In your example, you said that your page is located at:

www.xyz.com/shipping

But in your code from the prior post, you are only inserting the "no-index" command to search engines when the page is located at "www.xyz.com/shipping-policy":

@tfm_webmaster wrote:

{% if page.url == '/shipping-policy' %}
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />
{% endif %}

This would mean that in this example, the no-index wouldn't work. You can try to update your code or change the page URL. When you do, you can then browse to the page and then view the page source (on Chrome, you would need to right click anywhere on the page then click on View Page Source) and you can do a search for the meta command from above. If it exists, then any search engine that comes across this page and that respects the no-index command will avoid indexing your page.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi there

Thanks for replying. This was a mistake on my part. I used the wrong url for asking . The thing is my url is
www.xyz.com/shipping

and the code is:

{% if page.url == '/shipping' %}
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />
{% endif %}

I used the wrong url to give example to you. Anyway thanks for your help

PS. Let me know if this is right or if I am making a mistake in understanding you.

Hi

What I understood is that I have to search the following in the page source-
<meta name="robots" content="noindex" />

It shows no result

This is an accepted solution.

Hi @tfm_webmaster, thank you!

I see, no worries about the code, I just wanted to make sure that the simplest explanation was handled first. So it sounds like, if there's no such code in the page source, then we are indeed having some problems with the no-index command.

If you have time, it might be worth trying one additional thing. Based on recommendations from this page, you could try to change the code to the following:

{% if handle contains 'shipping' %}
<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
{% endif %}

This is a slight change from what you have, and what it does is it checks if your page handle contains the word "shipping" anywhere and if it does, it will insert the "no-index" snippet, which will then tell crawlers not to index your page. Give this a shot and see if it works for you.

If not, perhaps you can provide the full page URL and we can take a look.

Good luck!

Hi ,
I have followed what you said.
And now when i go and view page source for that page and search for noindex in search option, it shows the following line with a highlighted noindex-

<meta name="robots" content="noindex">

I think it is working. Is this the way this is suppose to work?
Kindly let me know if it will show this result
