Are there any cons to using a "non-Shopify" theme?

I have been using a theme I bought from Thereforest for quite a while now. My store is not doing well and I was wondering if the probllem could be the theme? It is made for Shopify, but not available in the Shopify theme store. I have recently changed the colour theme of my store (darker background), hoping the it would look better. I am ignorant about SEO and websites, so maybe I have not set it up correctly. I am wondering if I should change to a Shopify theme? Any suggestions welcome. Thank you. ^ don't do that. No one should be trying to sell their services on this section of the forums.
If there's feedback to give hopefully people will leave it here.

Hi,

I've taken a quick look at your site and I do and have a few suggestions to help you generally improve. I hope my comments at the very least address some of your recent theme changes.

  • Your "our service" page is down. This can hurt SEO. It also might be important for your customers to know!
  • Your FAQ page lists multiple unique features regarding how your store uniquely ships products. This could make for a great Call to Action button ("Special Shipping Options"). As is, these unique shipping options and general shipping methods are not easily found.
  • The white text on your homepage, and the grey text on the grey background on your customer review page, and others, are difficult to read. this could discourage customers.
  • Your customer reviews page isn't engaging. Consider how to better design this section to clearly display reviews. You can find an app to help you with this in the Shopify App store
  • Your shipping, about us, privacy, etc.. could be more prominently displayed.
  • Your blog hasn't been updated since last year and still displays Christmas specials. This might make new and returning customers think there is a problem. Consider how you can have regular seasonal and end of season updates to assure more customers return to your store.

All of this to the side, without effective advertising campaigns, you are relying on organic traffic to pull new customers to your site. You might want to try one of the Shopify Advertising apps, such as AdScale. It automatically creates and manages targeted advertising campaigns using advanced AI technology.

You can learn more here: ecom.adscale.com or watch this short video to understand how it works. Even if you don't use the service, it might give you some ideas about how to work towards effectively advertising your store to a larger audience.

Hope I've been helpful!
