Could I get some feedback on my store or some suggestions please?

Vintage design golf graphics. Apparel for on and off the green.

I've had this store for almost a year now and I still haven't gotten much business. People are viewing products and adding them to their cart, but they're not checking out. Please tell me any suggestions that come to mind. Is this just a bad niche? HELP!

Golf is a great niche and one that has a great fan base. Here are some ways to make your store even better and make people want to purchase.

 

Homepage Feedback

    1. Make your contact email your domain name. This will look more professional and make people trust your store more

    2. I would change and or add text to your hero shot image. It's kinda just standing there and blank right now. Use it to sell your brand

Product Page Feedback

    1. You need to add a longer product description as this is how you convince someone to buy on your site. Plus it helps with SEO and ranking in organic search. Most important area of your site next to product images

    2. Make sure each product has 3 - 5 images as that will help someone decide if they want to purchase. A lot of products I saw had only 1 or 2 images. Try to add some lifestyle photos over time of people wearing the clothes. Product images matter more then most ecom brands understand

    3. Add links to your shipping and return/refund policy on each product page

    4. Add a section for customer reviews when you get them. This helps build social proof

I don't think this is a bad niche at all! It seems like you've put a lot of thought into this as well. Here's my feedback:

  • I really like the way your store looks! This is one of the best stores I've seen so far.
  • I personally would remove the featured collection, just because I think having two rows of products looks a little weird (to me). Up to you, though!
  • Your spacing is good, but under "Our Story" try to make the text stretch a little longer so it aligns with the image. This might require you to write more stuff. I think it will help with the fluidity of your design. You could also remove that altogether and keep the featured collection. I'm sensing that there's slightly too much on your home page. 
  • Instagram feed looks good.
  • Your "About" looks a little bare. I would love to know more about your company! Include pictures of your founders and talk a little more about what makes your company unique and where your inspirations one from.
  • Try including a dropdown menu under "Shop" so your customers can easily filter to what they're looking for.
  • Your size chart doesn't look good. Try including more pictures or a more fluid design.
  • Customize your return policy.
  • I'd advise for you to separate your return policy and your ToS. I think you're also missing a privacy policy, which is better to keep separate as well.
  • The spacing in your product page needs to be fixed.

As far as why your store isn't doing so well, to me it's not a hostile design or a bad user experience. Therefore, it has to be something else. Here are some questions to help you brainstorm:

  1. Is your product quality good? Have you received any complaints?
  2. Are shipping times reasonable? Can customers upgrade their shipping?
  3. Your social media presence is pretty weak right now. Have you focused a lot of time in building it? Are you engaging with your followers?
  4. Are you connecting with the golf community locally and on a wider scope? Are you going to expos and events? How are you networking right now?
  5. Do you have a business plan set in place? Do you have reachable goals for every quarter? You can try analyzing what has and hasn't worked for you so far and expand upon that.

Overall, I really liked your store and I hope you can get your numbers up quickly. I'm 100% sure there is a market for what you're selling and that this has the potential to be profitable.

Congos on launching the store. I like the logo and typeface on it :)

 

  • I feel you should add few more menu items, specially the collection names on top menu. It makes easier for people to navigate. 
  • I always advice people to replace default Shopify search with specific search plugins such as Sparq, Searchanise or InstantSearch+ . Such apps overcome default Shopify search issues and provides features such as advance filters, quick search, partial search.
  • Please replace contact us email-id with domain specific email-id if possible. 
  • I couldnt see any physical address on the site. If its easy to share please do
  • Also have you explored plugins such as cart abandoment apps, which can help you recover some lost business. For eg. https://apps.shopify.com/care-cart
