Hi

Has been building a store for a good period now, has had about 5000 visitors but has very little sales in the store.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Would like a visual / general feedback of my store as well.

Hey there, @Ckoehler!  

Oh the $1,000,000 question - what am I doing wrong? You’re generating a lot of traffic, but…

  1. Is it the right traffic?
  2. What are they doing on your website?

Does your store look good? Yes! That being said, looking good doesn’t translate into conversions if there are pain points that are being missed. 

Are you driving the wrong traffic? To tell, filter your heatmap (which shows you where people click or scroll) or session recordings (which shows you what happened during someone’s visit) to identify just those people from a specific source or campaign. Do they move around your site, or do they click and leave? What do they experience? Do you see a higher bounce rate from a specific device or region?

For the website, it’s the same idea. You need to look at what they experience. 

That being said, here are a few things I found:

  • Hero image: Your image carousel is rotating way too quickly. Use that click heatmap to see which one has the best click rate and go from there.
  • Homepage layout: While I like the overall look, use a scroll heatmap to see how far people are scrolling. What do they miss? Click heatmaps will then be able to show you where they click or if they leave instead.
  • From the blog: Personally, I would remove this from the homepage. I doubt many of your visitors make it here. I would leave it in the footer instead. 
  • Pop-up: Revise the timing to display only once someone has engaged with your products. It’ll make it more likely that they’ll be interested in subscribing. 
  • Contact us: Take out the phone number field instead of making it optional. It’s a field with a high abandonment rate. I would also add in your email address.
  • Navigation: Overall, your navigation is really nice. It’s straight to the point. My biggest concern is if it’s clear. Especially with watches in the mix, it may not be abundantly clear what the Men or Women collection will show. Watch session recordings to see how people navigate across your store. You may want to test different collection distributions for that main navigation. 
  • Collections: Update your filters. This is a huge downfall. For a site that looks so good, this is definitely the weakest part. There are many repetitive filters, and they honestly aren’t helpful at all. People want filters for price, material, ratings, color, etc. They don’t need a filter for cross-sell-3. 
  • Product page: It needs some more shipping information, especially about the shipping costs. I’m also missing material information, care instructions, size and anything to compare the size to. Would a bag hold a laptop? What does it hold? You want to help people visualize it and want it.

You are on the right track here! The more you can learn about what your visitors are doing on your website, the more likely you are to make changes that result in happier customers and more conversions. Have seen your site and it looks great. 

However, I still have some comments for you:

- Add Quickview and Quickshop buttons for your products to allow your customers to see more product details faster. 

- Have seen your Instagram gallery, but it seems just a normal one, right? You can try to have a shoppable gallery for your site. 

Check this app if you want to have one Shoppable Instagram Gallery. The shoppable one can increase your sales. 

- On your homepage, you need to have a reviews section to increase your social proof. 

- On your homepages, you need to add:

+ Sticky Add to Cart bar

+ More Upsell and Cross-sell methods 

 

However, like the guy above said, you need to dig in more your data.

Your google page speed score is only 51 and mobile speed 20. Low mobile page speed may kill your traffic and affect your conversation. For greater success and to deliver a great user experience you should focus on mobile score as well. Website performance impacts ranking on organic search and user experience. This problem can reduce conversions and sales. 79% of people do not wait for more than 5.3 seconds for page loading. It can lead to the losing of new visitors, less traffic, and losing repeat customers. You should always work on your CRO - increasing the percentage of users who perform a desired action on your website.

I love your design and layout of the store. 

If your website doesn’t have a blog already, make creating one a priority. But if you have a blog, it gives people a reason to keep coming back. Blogs also help improve your SEO because you’re constantly adding new content to your page.

Homepage designs guides your visitors around your website. To engage visitors you need to work on homepage layout design.  Include trust indicators on the homepage. Homepage content should be strategically decided.

90% of people read reviews before purchasing an item. I personally do not read the description too much, I go straight on to the reviews section because that is social proof. In my opinion that is essential for every site. I highly recommend (almost insist) and adding that feature on your site. You can use Growave for that, it offers automated emails within the Reviews feature as well.

Social media has become a huge thing nowadays. I highly recommend taking advantage of that and adding Instagram galleries on your homepage. It will help drive traffic from your site on to your account and vice versa.

The items in your store are more on an expensive side, therefore I recommend giving back to your customers by rewarding them with free shipping, discounts, and other goodies for spending a certain amount of money on your site. That way,  letting your customers know that you care about them.

Implement an opportunity to log in and sign up using Social Media account. We all have accounts at least in one social media. And if I have an opportunity to create an account just with one click, I will do it. having an easier way to Sign in will help you gather customer base. The most valuable thing for a company is the customer.

I have inspected your store and here’s my report:

Your store looks really great, you did really well on the visuals of the store. I like the homepage and the flow. Furthermore, I visited the products and found that their descriptions are either copied or not unique. 

According to Google, if your products have common or copied descriptions your products will not rank high in the search rating sometimes they don’t even show up in the search results. 

Also about your product titles, they look very simple i.e. just the product name but a good product title should have all the essential qualities of the product in the title. And also they help in improving the overall SEO of your store. Take Amazon’s product titles for example they are informative and always show up on top in search results.

Lastly, I would like to talk about your store’s On-Page SEO rating which is really bad. If you wish to make your store more visible and reachable you should have a high SEO rating. Your SEO rating is a combined rating of how well your store will perform in search results higher the score higher the chances of being on the top result. You can improve it by making your Titles and Product description SEO optimized. Other than your product title and descriptions, the most important factor which affects your SEO rating is Meta Description, it's really important and most of the stores don't pay enough attention to it and then complain about the less traffic and conversions. 

Meta description and SEO rating vastly impact your store visibility on google and other possible interaction places. The meta description plays an important role in attracting the right kind of traffic ultimately resulting in better conversions.

I’d really suggest you try Descrii, they provide titles, descriptions, and meta descriptions for your products that’ll help your website to climb high in search rankings and ultimately gain more traffic and conversion.
