Help! Any feedback you can provide on my sustainable skincare store would be much appreciated. Getting plenty of click through from ads on FB, IG and Pinterest (usually at least double the average for my industry) but only one sale in 2 months! Feeling frustrated.😕 Thanks! .. Jo

Hey Beauty Recycled,

"Receiving site traffic, but, no sales is a very common scenario". The major reason being"improper site layout". Keep the below-listed points in mind to improve the same:

  • "Terms and Conditions" are a must in the footer for winning "customer trust and belief".
  • The "search bar" should be present on the top right of the header as well apart from the dropdown.

I’ve gone through your store and found that there are quite a few things missing on your store which if added can really make a lot of difference to the user experience, conversion rate and your overall sales. Here is a page-by-page/sectional review of your site:

 

  • Logo  - Your logo should highlight your brand name. 
  • Header - Have a sticky header and a clear search bar to help users locate the products they're looking for. Example of Good Header
  • Footer - Optimize your footer.Need lots of improvement. Put all policies pages and faq pages at footer.
  • Custom search - Customize the search icon with a toggle effect so the search form slides out when user clicks on the icon. Makes your site look neat.
  • Add to Cart icon - Prompt users to direct add products to cart without visiting the cart page.
  • Custom Slider with Call to Action - Make your site more visually appealing when you add your products in an interactive slider with prompt call to action.
  • Over All Text , Font , Paragraph , Alignment , Spacing , Padding etc to make it more elegant - Make your store well-organized, neat and visually appealing and add to the user experience.
  • Balancing color ., font images etc. - Maintain the same or similar colours and fonts throughout your store to keep your branding intact.

  • Testimonials - They add to the trust factor as when customers see what other buyers have to say about your products, it makes them more sure about your brand. Need to improve the visualization in your store 
  • Clear product title and description , high quality images , reviews , related products , color swatch function, grey effect for sold out products , product labels , product quick view - All these features make your store much more convenient, authentic, easy to use and user-friendly.
  • Sticky Buy now or add to cart button , Sticky cart - A sticky cart icon or sticky checkout bar reduces cart abandonment and engages the customer on your store.
  • Banner adding on Collection page - Make your collection page stand out with interesting & creative collection banners. Example of Good Collection Page
  • Promtional banner on collection page - You can show images of featured, bestseller or popular products on the collection page banner.
  • Product filter for easy navigation - Categorize & filter products by their size, colour or type so users find product to product navigation easy.Example of Ideal Product Page 
  • Proper integration of Google Analytics, Facebook store, instagram store, google search console - These features will help you track and analyze how customers interact with your store
  • Proper setup shipping, taxes - Set up shipping and taxes options for different areas/countries or for particular products.
  • Cart Page : discount code , Gift wrapping , additional cart notes , delivery date picker, i agree with terms and conditions, trust badges, etc. - Personalize your customer's shopping experience with these features on your cart page.
  • Need to improve Overall Design.

Have you implemented a tracking pixel on your store? That will allow you create a better audience to advertise to - so you make sure that you target the RIGHT visitors.


You can use the Pixel Magic app to add multiple pixels for Facebook (and a bunch more sources like Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat etc). It's really easy to use and no code involved!

Hey Jo,

 

That is one of the more frustrating scenarios! I can understand. 

 

However, it's pretty clear where your problem lies. You've nailed down your advertising and need to improve conversions on your website. 

 

I went through your website. There is room for improvement. If you want to do a complete rehaul, some of the advice other users have given is pretty much on point, especially the comment by MS-WEB-DESIGNER

 

Here are a few quick wins which I think you can implement immediately to bump your conversions:

 

1. Showcase more products on your home page. Your messaging is pretty great. Especially when you talk about your mission and story. But I'm assuming someone who clicked your ad would also be interested in seeing the products. Show them your best products so that users can start engaging right away. 

 

2. Add more details to your product listing. A confusing product listing can be one of the biggest turn-offs as a customer. For eg. the "beauty basics" starter kit. When I look at it, I see the image, but nowhere does it tell me exactly what is inside the started kit. I have to click the "full details" button, go to another page, then click one more button, which finally shows me what I should've got on your homepage. Too much friction!

 

3. It's all about the product listing. You can highlight some kind of urgency or offers etc. on your product images? Apps like ModeMagic help you to get more sales by applying product labels to create urgency and #fomo in your shoppers and help convert them into buyers faster. I saw one of your products with a "sale" label on it, but it isn't standing out enough! This should stand out, product labels are a good way to implement it. 

 

4. Make your testimonials more human. You can try adding customer images along to the text - it will increase trust for the users who see it.

 

5. Also, in terms of general impressions, as soon as I land on your home page - a bright text color (like white) with a bright background like green is immediately hard to read. Try changing the color of the text, or maybe an image with a darker tone. That will really help the first impression.
