Feedback on my new store/ Bounce Rate Issue

Hello everyone

just launched a webshop for my parents retail business im May and would love some feedback on it: www.anderewelten.de

In particular I am seeing an incredibly high bounce rate (80-90%). Any ideas what I can do to improve that?

Anything other feedback on improvements is super welcome!

Here are some ways to make your store even better and make people want to purchase.


Product Page  Feedback

      1. Make sure each product has 3 - 5 images as that will help someone decide if they want to purchase. A lot of products I saw only had 1 or 2 images
      2. Add a product description as this is how you convince someone to buy on your site. Plus it helps with SEO and ranking in organic search
      3. Make sure all your product images are the same size and dimensions. This is going to help tie your site together
      4. Add a section at the bottom of product pages to show your most viewed/bought items from the site. This can help increase your average order value
      5. Add a section for customer reviews when you get them. This helps build social proof and makes it easier for people to trust your brand. Ask past customers for reviews is a great way to get this started

I’ve gone through your store and found that there are quite a few things missing on your store which if added can really make a lot of difference to the user experience, conversion rate and your overall sales. Here is a page-by-page/sectional review of your site:

  • Add blog and Video of product to Decrease bounce rate
  • Remove popup, because there is no close button which may be the biggest reason for high bounce rate.clostbutton.png

  • Add Testimonials at homepage - They add to the trust factor as when customers see what other buyers have to say about your products, it makes them more sure about your brand.
  • Banner adding on Collection page - Make your collection page stand out with interesting & creative collection banners. Example of Good Collection Page
  • Add Promotional banner on collection page - You can show images of featured, bestseller or popular products on the collection page banner.
  • Add Product filter for easy navigation - Categorize & filter products by their size, colour or type so users find product to product navigation easy.Example of Ideal Product Page
  • Do Cart Page Modification : discount code , Gift wrapping , additional cart notes , delivery date picker, i agree with terms and conditions, trust badges, etc. - Personalize your customer's shopping experience with these features on your cart page.

I just had a look at your store, your store looks great. I have a few suggestions for you hope they might help you.

 

  • There is no review option, try adding that feature social reviews helps you a lot in bringing sales. 
  • There are no trust badges at your checkout page, try adding them as trust badges help your customers know that your site is safe to shop. 
  • Try adding SEO related high search keywords in your title and product description so that it will be very easy to market your products and display them at the top in google search.
  • I have also found that there are only a few products in your store, try adding more products so that your customers will have a lot of options to select from.
  • Try adding some sale offers to your products to attract customers.
  • Add a blog page, blog page helps you to share more about your website and products which increases your site visibility.

Hey @LisaSkywalker,

Welcome to the Shopify family, and congratulations on your store.

Your store looks pretty great on the first look, good job. There are a few issues which might be causing the high bounce rate issue. I have a few observations:

  1. The first fold, as soon as I land, doesn’t tell me anything about what you sell. There are images, but I could only find out what you actually sell by scrolling down. Consider updating the content in the first fold. Be clear about who you are and what you’re selling, and why someone should buy from you.
  2. There are too many products on your home page. If you overwhelm the user with too much alien info/ too many choices, they will most likely drop out. Show a few featured products on the homepage maybe your bestsellers and your new arrivals. Show everything else on the products page. 
  3. Add a separate “About Us” page. When a new user lands on your website, they will be looking for signs of trustworthiness. A good, personal about us page makes your brand stand out and connect with users.
  4. Product images. This is my biggest observation, on almost all products - you have only 1 image. You should add multiple images - which shows the product close up, inside, etc. This is the only interaction users will have it, they can’t touch it and see, so be sure to add as many details as possible. A bad product listing is the #1 users don’t convert.
  5. On the same note, have you thought about using product labels/ stickers to highlight your bestselling products? You can use these “mini-banner” kind of labels on top of your product images to guide user’s attention to the right product. Apps like Modemagic can help you apply product labels (full disclosure: I’m a part of the Modemagic team, I think it could really help you!)
  6. This  “checkbox for agreeing to terms and conditions” might cause problems. Any extra steps/friction in the checkout process can lead to users dropping out.

  8. Lastly, testimonials and reviews are another way of proving the authenticity and quality of your products. Get some testimonials from your current customers and add them!
