Recently we changed the theme to make it more modern looking. I am looking for feedback on the following specifically.

You have a defined niche and you stick to it, which is excellent. The products look really good quality and I love the monochrome color theme, which suits your niche.
One thing I noticed - the feedback slideshow changes quite fast, not giving enough time to read each review comfortably:
Consider allowing at least 10 seconds for each slide before changing it - it should give enough time for each user to read the review in their own pace.
Contact us page has got the hero image missing - consider adding it when you have a chance:
Google snippet - your meta title and meta description contain mainly keywords:
Consider writing SEO-friendly values here. Google snippet should be defined for each page, blog post and product, as it's being displayed in the search results and is often the first thing people see when they come across your brand in Google.
Schema markup - consider adding rich snippets for your homepage, it's a very easy and effective way to stand out from your competition in the search results with a data-rich listing.
Backlinks - consider getting more backlinks from other high DA websites in your niche to improve your own domain authority, trust and drive more traffic:

I use to love chess and I love your website. I'm sure others would also.

Home Page: Personally I've never had luck with high ticket items on my home page. My old business I'd focus on low ticket items to get people into my "funnel" and than do email marketing and some other little things like building a connection etc. This way I ended up with hundreds of people that would spend $20 - $2,000 every year with me consistently for years.
If you get 1,000 people that like you and have connection that spend $100 a year that's $100,000 in revenue plus all the other random sales. Something to think about.

P.S I use to be in the chess club in high school and drive all over Sydney playing against other schools. Brings back memories.
Use to place chess as a kid and loved it. Been a few years but I still have my chess set from my college years. Here are some ways to make your store even better and make people want to purchase.

As an avid chess player, I love your niche! This has potential, and I think you can scale once you have it polished up. Some quick ideas;
- add online chat, this will get customer feedback for products (Tidio is what i like, but even FB Messenger)
- move most popular / best selling to top
- have an "above the fold" button with a sale/call to action
- give away something free, like a free small chess set with an outdoor set
- easy on the sliders, they do kill conversions
- move reviews up to top
- you need sales pop-ups and a good review app (I will give you an lifetime free account of my Gravy app - see my signature)
- master Google Shopping Ads for top selling products, create separate Campaigns for each product, this ROI will pay-out
