Huge bounce rate increase from 40% to 90 % in 24 hours may 24 2019 on breathing.com and we had changed nothing much of the 1,500 pages done prior to a month or so. Trying to figure out what happened. Any ideas? If google re-indexed it how could it have been so good then dropped so rapidly as the content was and is pretty much the same. Could a template change be part of the answer?
That sounds interesting - definitely a detailed review of your Google Analytics will give you the answer. Check where the visitors where coming from directly before and after the change. It sounds like your website got a lot of new traffic not relevant to the content [could be due to a voucher, competition, influencer campaign, Facebook post etc.] It doesn't however explain the drop in traffic at the same time. Definitely look into your GA review.

In the case of a lot of traffic and low conversion rate [sales], I'd recommend looking into your ads. Perhaps they are not optimized to send the most relevant traffic.
Remember that Facebook ads are initially good for building awareness for your brand - you can then monetize with retargeting ads.
Make sure to define your audience better, keep experimenting with different interests, different ad objectives, different images, text, CTAs. It's also a good idea to collect email addresses as soon as you can on your website - this way you will stay in touch with your visitors and convert later on.
People rarely buy on the first visit to a new store, so it's important to stay in touch with them. Right now people need 16 different interactions with a brand before they convert, and a newsletter is a great option to stay within their radar, so you're on their mind next time they're shopping for baby products.
