I have been running small ads on Facebook, Pinterest and Google. I have been getting good traffic, but no sales. I had 45 people in the store at the same time and not one purchased. I also got the App LUCKY ORANGE. I can see videos of potential customers. Most of them look at the top, scrolling to the bottom and then leave? Other than spending more money on bells and whistles, what should I do?

I am also getting a lot of traffic from outside the US, Plus my BUY IT NOW BUTTON keeps going away. I can’t make it stay, and no one knows of a solution,

PLEASE HELP!

Hi Geri,

Care to share your website URL so that the community can take a better look and give you some personalized fixes?

Marketing can be tricky if you are not familiar with it. It takes a bit of a learning curve, but once you get a hang of it, it can generate quite a bit of ROI for you.

Here are some simple questions you should be asking yourself, are you marketing to the right people? Does your page convince what your product is about? Is your price too expensive? Why should people buy your product over others?

Okay great, I've detailed some feedback below from a first glance:

Pros

1. The Free shipping banner at the top is great, it was the first thing I saw on page load and it'll really help persuade users to buy!

2. It's great to see a blog on the site, just make sure you keep up with it as it'll really help with increasing traffic

Cons

1. I'd reduce the size of the scrolling banner on the homepage (desktop) so that users can see the shopping category buttons over the images without having to scroll down. I'd also reduce the speed of the scrolling banner.

2. A lot of the large imagery is showing blurry for me. I'd look at reducing the size of these images where possible as higher quality trumps bigger size imagery.

3. On the product pages, e.g All Products, I'd move the products as high up as possible on the page. The text that appears below the page title is great, if a little long, but is less important than the actual products.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my store. I will try implementing some of your ideas! Thanks again.

Hi Geri,

I checked out your store and I can clearly see the amount of efforts you have put in to bring it to the current level. Kudos to you for that!

I have been a Shopify store owner myself and know how frustrating it could be when you do everything to drive more traffic to your store but that traffic doesn't convert into paying customers. Based on my experiences, I can share with you that while there can be many possible reasons why most visitors coming to your website do not end up buying anything from your store, one of the most common reasons is the lack of post visit engagement with store visitors after they leave your store.

As you would agree, most visitors are not going to buy a product from your store on their first visit. Research by leading companies like Google shows that it takes about 10-20 engagements/interactions with a potential customer before she can make a purchase decision. While most of us try very hard to drive traffic to our stores by being active on social media, running paid ads etc., we forget to re-engage the store visitors after the initial visit, thereby leaving a lot of money on the table.

Based on my assessment of your store, I can suggest the following which may potentially improve the sales conversion for you:

1. Currently, I don't see you are capturing the email addresses of the website visitors or inviting them to sign up for a newsletter/membership program. Email lists can be extremely helpful in building a top of the mind recall amongst your potential customers by carefully sending them genuinely useful emails with timely promotional offers. You can try using Mailchimp for building your mailing lists and nurturing over time.

2. Many store visitors these days are concerned about their privacy and may not be comfortable in sharing their email address with you immediately. A great way to overcome this limitation is by leveraging the push notification technology. Using push notifications, you can send relevant content/promotions to yoru store visitors later, without requiring them to share their email address with you. Note that you DON'T need a mobile app or anything specific for this. You just need to install the script for one of the Push Notification service providers like Onesignal etc. and you are good to go! I have seen e-commerce store owners growing their sales exponentially with this simple technique. Do give it a try!

3. Not sure if you have already tried this, but have you thought about running retargeting campaigns on Facebook, Instagram or Google Display Network? Given you are in the beauty category, Instagram can be particularly helpful! Probably instead of using 100% of your ads budget on driving new traffic to your store, you can spare some of the budget for running carefully crafted retargeting campaigns on Facebook etc.

I hope you will find my suggestions above helpful and worth trying. Do let me know how it goes or if you need any help in setting these up? Happy to help!
