Hello Everyone,
I'm looking forward to all of your honest opinions about my site (hygienevillage.com). Just a few weeks in and my analytics indicate I have a lot of traffic.
Where I'm more concerned is regarding conversions. I've done many of the Shopify recommended courses and internet searches for "what to have and not have" on my site regarding design, marketing, conversions, trust factors, etc., but I'm still not seeing a whole lot of results. I have yet to get above the 1% rate.
Any recommendations?
Thank you!
Congrats on your store, your products are really helpful nowadays and many of them are essential, actually...
I'd love to share some thoughts with you:
- It's quite unconventional to have the subscription form at the top of the home page. It's usually where we should tell our visitor what the store is about, what we offer... When lands on the page, the visitor doesn't know what you sell, they will scroll down and ignore the form and the message, it's a waste.
Above the fold area is very important as it creates the 1st impression for visitors. So, I'd recommend you put a banner, which tells audience about your products.
- The menu: You can test by showing your product categories rather than hiding them under Categories. Together with the banner I suggest above, the menu will clearly communicate with the customers and tell them where to click.
- Buttons: They have alignment issue and don't really look like a button => I don't know where to click and have to mouse over everything before realizing SAVE $10.01 is a button. When someone is on your page, they don't usual think too much, our job is to make them easily take action.
=> You might try adding background color for the button
- The product images have different styles, which isn't very good to build trust from customers. If you don't make the image yourself, try making them simple and fewer colors used.
If you ask me to pick one aspect that you can improve to boost conversion, I'd say "Trust". There're many things you can do to improve like adding testimonial, reviews and ratings... Or simply, put more effort on your About us page: Show your pictures or tell something more human, something that shoppers can relate to, they will trust you more. Hi @hygienevillage !
Welcome to Shopify!
Try adding SEO related high search keywords in your title and product description so that it will be very easy to market your products and display them at the top in google search.
Homepage designs guides your visitors around your website. To engage visitors you need to work on homepage layout design. Include trust indicators on the homepage. Homepage content should be strategically decided.
90% of people read reviews before purchasing an item. I personally do not read the description too much, I go straight on to the reviews section because that is social proof. In my opinion that is essential for every site. I highly recommend (almost insist) and adding that feature on your site. You can use Growave for that, it offers automated emails within the Reviews feature as well.
Social media has become a huge thing nowadays. I highly recommend taking advantage of that and adding Instagram galleries on your homepage. It will help drive traffic from your site on to your account and vice versa.
The items in your store are something that every person will need in their lives. Therefore, I recommend using a Referral program by Growave to give your customers an opportunity of sharing your products with friends and getting rewarded for that.
The items on your store are something that will most likely be purchased by one person several times. For better customer retention I recommend using Rewards program by Growave, that will give out various discounts depending on how much a person has spent on your store or how many actions he/she has completed (left a review, shared the site, created an account, etc.)
The sale you have seems to be a nice deal, however, when you make such a big amount off it might devalue your product. People always need to know why you have made such sales, is it a seasonal sale? or is it because there is no demand for it? Does that mean the product is bad?
Instead of giving a discount for nothing, give them rewards for completing certain actions on your store ex. for creating accounts, for leaving a review, for sharing your site, for spending money on your site. It is not difficult for a user to do and you will get so many actions on your site, and you are having discounts anyway.
For adding the functions above you can several apps. However, if you want to get all of them at once just with a couple of clicks, try Growave.
We have 6 great features -Reviews, Wishlist, Rewards, Social Login, Instagram, Discounts, etc.
There is a free plan available.
Hopefully, I managed to help you. If so, please let me know by liking this post.
