Hi to all the good people out there!

My wife and I have put together a website using the Supply Theme, retailing a range of product & are desperately looking for feedback from the likes of yourselves out there. We think that friends and family tend to tell us what they think we want to hear.

Any advice or criticisms will be so very much welcomed! Thanking every in advance for taking the time to look at our website.

First of all, kudos for asking for feedback. You’re right in that friends and family are great at many things, but they aren’t always the best way for feedback about your website.

 

Now, about your website…


My first impression was pretty overwhelming. The first thing I saw were two requests to allow notifications and a survey popup. If I’ve never seen your store before, I don’t know if I want to allow them or not! If you can, it may be better to have one pop up on the second or third visit. Or at the very least, delay the popup to give visitors a chance to browse.

A session recording, which acts like a DVR for your site visitors, can show you how many people are simply clicking out of your popups instead of engaging with them.

I do enjoy your featured collection on your homepage; it’s a great way to highlight different items. That being said, you’re missing a currency conversion for international users. It would be even better if this could be automatic. The same goes with your search function. It’s great to have, but if I’m searching for GRAY rather than GREY, it’s not going to pull any results.

I think you would really benefit from a heatmap. A heatmap shows you where people click or didn’t click on your website; the more they click, the “hotter” the color. For your website, a heatmap can really help you see which areas you can improve.

 

For example, your menu is out of control with tabs - you have 13 of them! Here’s how I would use heatmaps if I were in your shoes:

1. From your menu, are people clicking on brands and how to shop? Those don’t feel like top-level options people would be interested in. 

  1. What are your top categories? You may be able to group them together differently to minimize the options. For example, could you combine kitchenware, homeware, decor and bedroom to be “home” or something similar? 
  2. Evaluate your products. What products are people most interested in buying? Or not buying? You will see clusters of clicks around areas products and information that people were most interested in. You can ask a poll question to give customers a voice, too. 

 

Now, let’s briefly talk about your footer. I think your quick links could be shortened. While navigating the website may be something you think you need, heatmaps will show you if it’s really needed. Maybe FAQs would be better for some of these (i.e., pricing, refunds, returns, promo codes, etc.).

I have to address your contact information. Is there a reason why you need to include a phone number in your contact form? A form analytics report can tell you if that’s causing a higher abandonment rate and which fields take longer to complete.

Have you considered a different chat system? Lucky Orange has a live chat feature that ties in with heatmaps, form analytics and more. You would get so much more from it than your current system, including co-browse opportunities (show visitors where to find a product), auto invite (set up criteria to ask them to chat, such as when they add a product to the cart but don’t check out) and tie into session recordings (to watch exactly what happened on their visit). 

 

You’re doing great, guys! Keep it up, keep evaluating and go for it. You have a great start here!

Hey Online Home Store,

Since the products are classified into many product categories making the main menu bulkier, hence a  vertical dropdown menu on the top header left would be more preferable. Some other observations regarding store optimization are as follows:

  1. There is a lot of empty space between the "products and the bar at the bottom" of the collection page.
  2. Utilization of the "golden-brown header template" for highlighting attractive discounts or free shipping offers would yield better customer notice and attention.
  3. The addition of "Login" is a must for ecommerce purposes.
  4. In order to make the header look more systematic, "Login" should be placed beside the "Search bar and Cart" on its top right side.
  5. An attractive central banner should be added below the main menu for more professionalism in the site outlook.
  6. Brand awareness and promotion can be better carried out by adding "Instagram images and testimonials" to the site footer.
  7. Single newsletter in the footer is always preferrable for better discounts or promotional updates.
  8. You can also install one of the most popular app Growwave which is all in one marketing platform that helps store owners increase conversions with ease.
  9. Finally, I would also recommend replacing the default search with an advanced search like Sparq which allows synonyms, advanced custom tag filters, spelling correction, and other such features. Visitors with search are high intent users and their conversion rate is higher than normal users.

I have gone through your site. Though it looks good, there are quite a few things missing on your store which if added can really make a lot of difference to the user experience, conversion rate and your overall sales.

 

Logo & Favicon :

Logo & Favicon -- Your logo should highlight your brand name. Add a favourite icon so users can locate your webpage easily.

 

HEADER & FOOTER :

  1. Header -- Have a sticky header and a clear smart search bar to help users locate the products they're looking for.Also a slide out cart, a cart icon with item calculator must have features. Login icon must be there for buyer account creation before purchasing.
  2. Footer -- Optimize your footer with more professional and functional look and also highlight your newsletter sign up so people who follow your brand will receive more updates about promotions and sales. There are legal policy pages which are missing in the footer that must be included for authenticity and security purpose

 

HOMEPAGE :

A lot can be done to your homepage to make it more informative & attractive.

  1. Banners & Branding -- Add hero banner with prompt CTA buttons that syncs well with your store theme & branding. This banner should include info like free shipping, offers/deals like 50% off, etc
  2. Color, Font & Branding -- Over All Text, Font , Paragraph , Alignment , Spacing , Padding etc should be more elegant so that your store looks well-organized, neat and visually appealing. Maintain the same or similar colors and fonts throughout your store to keep your  branding intact 
  3. Featured Collection -- Add all the top featured collection on the homepage so users know the type of products you're selling on your store.
  4. Featured / Bestseller products -- Engage your customers by letting them know the bestseller products on your store                                     
  5. Testimonials -- They add to the trust factor as when customers see what other buyers have to say about your products, it makes them more sure about your brand.
  6. Highlight your USP -- What's unique about your brand that none of the other Shopify merchants have? This needs to be highlighted in your store presentation, features & more.
  7. Trust Badge on Home Page -- This is important as this helps to build trust and assures your customers that your brand is authentic

 

COLLECTION PAGE :

Your customer views this page to have an in-depth view of the products and services you offer.

  1. Banner adding on Collection page -- Make your collection page stand out with interesting & creative collection banners
  2. Product filter for easy navigation -- Categorize & filter products by their size, color or type so users find product to product navigation easy.
  3. Product Label -- Product labels like % off, ‘New Arrival’, ‘Sold Out’ must be there must be there for the ease of the buyer
  4. Product Showcasing -- Clear product title and description , high quality images , reviews , related products , color swatch function, grey effect for sold out products , product labels . All these features make your store much more convenient, authentic, easy to use and user friendly.

Hi,
I did visited your store. You've interesting products. I've below suggestions on your website to improve your conversion rate.

1. Increase the font size

2. Menu in the header is looking clumsy

3. Image size is looking odd in some product pages "We Also Recommend" section. Keep the same image size throughout the website.

4. Add some product reviews.

 

I also did a flare check on your site.  You have 530 results indexed by Google. But your website has 4335+ pages. Before you think of ranking you should ensure your pages are found (indexed by Google). So I would suggest getting your pages found by Google, Bing and other major search engines will be beneficial to you in terms of generating sales from organic searches.

You can submit your sitemap regularly to these major engines, or consider using a convenient tool like flare that offers many other major benefits.
