I am new to Shopify stores and I have a domain I previously bought on Google. The problem is when I try to connect it to my store it says "A and CNAME entered incorrectly". I try to follow the instructions provided but it still doesn't connect. Has anyone else had problems with this and how do you fix it?

Thank you for reaching out regarding this. Just to confirm, you have definitely updated the CNAME and A Record in your DNS Settings?

  • Your A record should point to Shopify's IP address, which is 

  • Your www CNAME record should point to 

Editing these domain settings might have an effect on other things, such as email forwarding. You can contact your domain provider to find out how any changes might affect your DNS settings.


If you have made these changes already, how long ago was this? It can take a domain provider 24-48 hours to propagate these new records, so, if it has been less than 24 hours please do wait a little longer!
