Why am I not selling?

I get TONS of engagement on all my social media post. Tons of people saying they love my products especially my Merch. I get around 500 visitors a month so far. Why are none of my visitors concerting/buying? Please help! My website is: www.queercosmetics.com

Hey Juandove, really nice store. Without really knowing your marketing strategies I can definitely make a few suggestions to help you actually turn your visitors into buyers. And you can do it all for free.  


- Using paid ads? If so, always send the visitor to a specific product/landing page. The product page they land on should accurately reflect the ad they clicked on to make sure they continue further down your sales funnel. 


- No social proof yet? Without reviews, its really hard to build trust, but it can be done. In this case, your product pages need to be more compellling. Focus on strong benefits for the visitor, coupled with easily scannable content like so:

The headline sparks interest and keeps them reading (the hook), then bullet points relay benefits in a super precise manner that can be understood in a matter of seconds. Visitors make the buying decision in roughly 3 - 10 seconds, so you need to act fast. 


- Tons of social engagement? Create a blog, link your socials to the content then plug your products as the solution towards the end of the article. Take the reader on an informative, educational journey then close the deal with a BUY NOW button.

Its a great way to make use of free traffice with the community you've created on socials - just remember to always provide value in your articles before you ask them to buy anything. 


- Raise your voice. You have a really important message as a brand, but your site could reflect that more strongly. If you're striving for equality, I'm sure your target audience are too. I'd recommend creating more content around that (articles, videos if you're comfortable) and possibly even contributing to lgbtq commnunities in some way through your website.

I checked out your website and it looks great, as far as why you aren't getting sales from your visitors, I believe that your visitors aren't targeted well. If you need help with that feel free to message me.

You have a good store overall but it does need some work to make it even better. As a gay guy, I would not buy from the store right now but here is how to change that:


Homepage Feedback

    1. Make sure all your product images are the same size and dimensions. This is going to help tie your site together

    2. Carousels / sliders have been proven to lower conversions rates ...limit how much you use the one on your site. No one is going to wait around to see what is on each sliders

    3. I would clean up the design of your homepage as it's disorganized and has a lot of empty white space. The testimonials don't jump off the page a as much as they should

    4. Overall continue to make all your product images more consistent and tied together. This helps build a brand

Product Page  Feedback

    1. Add a section at the bottom of product pages to show your most viewed/bought items from the site. This can help increase your average order value across the site. Right now your bushes product page does not have this

    2. Make sure each product has 3 - 5 images as that will help someone decide if they want to purchase. A lot of products I saw only had 1 or 2 images

    3. Add a section for customer reviews when you get them. This helps build social proof and makes it easier for people to trust your brand. Ask past customers for reviews is a great way to get this started

Hey Juandove,

For identifying your site in an effective way, a favicon is a must. The logo is quite unclear. Magnify it a little bit more and add some text pertaining to the store name while the graphics is fine. Some other suggestions for store modification are as follows:

  1. Apart from the dropdown, the login should also be added beside the shopping cart on the top right of the header as well.
  2. The search bar should also be placed beside the shopping cart on the top right of the header apart from the dropdown.
  3. The dropdown should include the "Home" button as well to make it look complete and logical.
  4. Header template should be created to highlight amazing discounts or free shipping offers if any.
  5. "Sale" section should be added to the dropdown menu for keeping all discounted items in one place.
  6. Social links like Facebook, Twitter etc need to be added to the footer for better customer-centricity.
  7. Instagram images are a must for better brand promotion.
  8. Reviews below each product are compulsary for better customer choice.

I have gone through your site. Though it looks good, there are quite a few things missing on your store which if added can really make a lot of difference to the user experience, conversion rate and your overall sales.


Logo & Favicon :

Logo & Favicon -- Your logo should highlight your brand name. Add a favourite icon so users can locate your webpage easily.



  1. Header -- Have a sticky header and a clear smart search bar to help users locate the products they're looking for.Also a slide out cart, a cart icon with item calculator must have features. Login icon must be there for buyer account creation before purchasing.
  2. Footer -- Optimize your footer with more professional and functional look and also highlight your newsletter sign up so people who follow your brand will receive more updates about promotions and sales. There are legal policy pages which are missing in the footer that must be included for authenticity and security purpose



A lot can be done to your homepage to make it more informative & attractive.

  1. Banners & Branding -- Add hero banner with prompt CTA buttons that syncs well with your store theme & branding. This banner should include info like free shipping, offers/deals like 50% off, etc
  2. Color, Font & Branding -- Over All Text, Font , Paragraph , Alignment , Spacing , Padding etc should be more elegant so that your store looks well-organized, neat and visually appealing. Maintain the same or similar colors and fonts throughout your store to keep your  branding intact 
  3. Featured Collection -- Add all the top featured collection on the homepage so users know the type of products you're selling on your store.
  4. Featured / Bestseller products -- Engage your customers by letting them know the bestseller products on your store                                     
  5. Testimonials -- They add to the trust factor as when customers see what other buyers have to say about your products, it makes them more sure about your brand.
  6. Highlight your USP -- What's unique about your brand that none of the other Shopify merchants have? This needs to be highlighted in your store presentation, features & more.
  7. Trust Badge on Home Page -- This is important as this helps to build trust and assures your customers that your brand is authentic

  1. Banner adding on Collection page -- Make your collection page stand out with interesting & creative collection banners
  2. Product filter for easy navigation -- Categorize & filter products by their size, color or type so users find product to product navigation easy.
