App provided section (new Section API)

Hi!

I'm exploring a new Section API. In Unite 2019 was mentioned that apps could provide custom sections for merchants.

But I can't find anything in documentation right now that would explain such customization.

Summary: how an app could provide for store owner a custom section which content is generated by the app?

This is an awesome functionality indeed. But it is still under development and I doubt Shopify is going to make it GA before holiday season.

A developer preview of the app section functionality is coming by year's end.

Which means the public version will be available next year? Looked at the 2019-10 and 2020-1 RC version updates, but didn't find anything regarding Section Everywhere version.

So can we expect the new Theme Editor to work in Developer Preview store by the end of this year?

The public version will be available next year. This is a monumental release. Unfortunately we've hit some delays and have had to make changes in response to partner feedback (an updated developer preview is coming out soon).

A partner beta of the new editor UI and app sections is planned for Dec/Jan.

Do we have any updates on when this feature will be available?
