Canadian Seller with USD Currency

Hi guys,

Thanks for the above advice.

About my store situation. I am about to set up a USD TD account. TD offers a free USD Daily Chequing account and a USD Borderless Chequing account which is $4.95 USD per month.

Does anyone have experience using the free TD USD Daily Chequing account and does it work with Shopify's setup?

I've seen many posts about the TD Borderless account working well with Shopify but haven't seen anything about the free TD account. I would rather go the free account route.

Anyhow if anyone could provide me with some insight that would be great.

Here's the link to the USD TD accounts: https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/products/bank-accounts/us-dollar-accounts/

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Mark!

We don't have documentation that specifically mentions the TD Borderless free account, but as long as the bank account is a USD account and is in Canada where you are located, as that one seems to be, then it will work with your Shopify account just fine, and you will be able to sell in USD!

Once you have the bank account set up and is good to go, you can set up your payment gateway in USD with those bank account details without any issues.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,

Freddie

Hi Freddie,

Thanks for your quick replay. I've added the free US chequing account with TD Bank. Everything looks good to go.

Thanks again!

Hi guys,

Just to clarify. So I have a  US chequing account with TD Bank. If my store is accepting USD and my US customer payouts go to this Canada based US account, would that also mean my Canadian customer payouts will go to the USD chequing account as well? Currently I don't believe I can connect to two bank accounts to one Shopify store.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, Mark!

You are absolutely correct. You can only connect one bank account per payment gateway, and if your pricing is set to USD and you charge in USD, regardless of the local currency your customer will pay with, you will receive the funds in USD in your USD bank account.

Let me know if that helps!

Best regards,

Freddie

Holly, Please let me know more detail of how you set up your billing. I opened a TD US Checking account like you said. I am eager to get my shopify store kickstarted but I want to make sure my billing & payment is settled. I would love to check out your site as well!

Hi,

I am currently set up to charge in USD, but to payout in CAD into my Canadian chequing account. I am wondering what shopify payments conversion rate is? I will be comparing it to the banks rate. Thank you.

Hi, I have a TD borderless account with USD but I can't find the routing number that Shopify needs and I contacted the bank and they have no idea.

Can you please let me know how did you get your routing number?

Hey Mostafa,

Here is the routing number for TD borderless accounts in Canada. I confirmed with the Td bank rep and he said that they all have same routing number accross the country to receive payments in USD- 026009592
