Change name on 'sender' on draft invoice mails

When I send a draft invoice to my customers, it appears with my own name, instead of the shops name. 

 

On every other mail, it shows the correct shop name, so it's the only "type" of mails that have this issue. 

 

Is it possible to change the 'from name', on the draft invoice mails?

My name is Rae and I work for Shopify. Thanks for reaching out about this, and welcome to the Community! 

 

There are a couple of different reasons why your name might be showing up on draft order invoices that are emailed to your customers. However, so that I can get a better idea of where your name is visible, can you please send me a screenshot that shows the notification and where your name is included? Feel free to blur out any sensitive details on the notification before sharing it here. 

 

In the meantime, one setting that may be adding your name to this template is tied to the details that are listed as your store name in the 'Settings > General' section of your Shopify admin. In this section, under 'Store name' or 'Legal name of business' is your name listed anywhere? If so, please remove it and replace it with your store name instead.

 

Another thing that might have caused this to happen is if there have been coding changes made to the draft order notification template and an extra variable was added that is pulling your name into the notification. Some of the variables that would pull these details are the 'user' and 'user.name' variables. Please check this template to see if any of these variables have been added to it. 

 

If you haven't edited the coding and you're using Shopify's default draft order notification template, then you may want to revert the template back to its default settings. However, please keep in mind that if you have custom coding here, or if you've made any changes to this template at all, reverting the template will wipe those changes. If you're unsure if this template has been edited, then I recommend not reverting the template to avoid any potential risk of losing customizations. If you would like to revert the template, please do this by heading into your admin and clicking on 'Settings > Notifications > Draft order invoice'. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Revert to default'.

I also have this problem. Were you able to solve it for the person above? 

 

All of our store emails go out properly addressed except for the draft order notification (that I've noticed). It looks like this one is picking up the name on the email that a customer would contact instead of the shop name. So let's say my business name is Paper Mouse, Inc. and my customer contact email is 'susie@papermouse.com'. The draft order invoice is showing the 'from' name (the sender name) as 'susie' (lower-case and all) which looks super unprofessional, instead of 'Paper Mouse, Inc.' 

 

Under Settings > Notifications > Draft Order Invoice, I can only edit the contents of the email, not the name of the sender. I understand if it's not customizable, but it should at least default to the shop name. Please help! We don't want to look incompetent to our wholesale customers.

Can you please share a screenshot that shows exactly where your name is appearing on this notification? To preview this notification to take a screenshot of this, just login to your Shopify admin, click on 'Settings > Notifications > Draft order invoice'  and select 'Preview'

 

In the meantime, if this information is showing up in the 'Email subject', or the 'Email body'  field, you can edit this by following these steps, and using these variables. In particular, the 'shop.name'  variable is designed to pull the name of your store into the notification. If you can see any 'user'  or 'user.name'  variables in the notification, replacing these with 'shop.name'  may help to resolve this.

Hi Rae,

I have a similar concern. Unfortunately, I'm not able to see any option to edit / change the variable user to shop

Could you please suggest another way to do this? Edit the code / language / anything at all?

To clarify, are you also seeing your own name appear, rather than your store's name, when sending out a draft order invoice?

If so, can you please reply back to me here with a screenshot that shows exactly where your name is visible? Feel free to blur out any other sensitive information from this image before posting it here.

Once I receive this, I can help look into this further and provide more direction on editing the notification.

Hi @Rae,

Thanks for a prompt response on this. 

Some background information for you, the shop name is set as READYUMM, the email id mapped for sending Draft Invoices is reachus@readyumm.com. (ref. image attached)

When I send a test email to preview the draft invoice template, the sender name appears as READYUMM, however when I send a draft invoice against an actual order, it shows the sender name as reachus (prefix of reachus@readyumm.com), As seen in the first image, #D234 is a test email... #D1269 & #1270 are actual invoices sent to customers against real orders.

I would like the sender name to show as READYUMM in all communication (related to our store) that goes out to the customer via Shopify.

Hey, did you found a solution for this problem? We're having the same problem. All our draft orders didn't have our set sender name. Quite confusing for our customers.
