Fraud analysis "low" on an order but seems odd...

NEW shopify site owner...looking for advice.

Had an order out of state (order from not a great part of chicago)...All of our orders so far have been from friends and family and contacts locally.

We checked the delivery address in chicago and it's a duplex..probably a rental. So who would spend $60 on 2 sweatshirts the EXACT same size and color from a local sports brand website (we're in a different state) when the buyer doesn't have much money I'm assuming?

Shopify shows low on fraud analysis.. but .I even googled the email address of buyer and NO results returned.

How should something like this be handled?

THANKS for input

Are you thinking it's fraud because of their order and address? It's not too unusual to order the same thing, especially if it'll be a favourite or if it becomes part of a uniform.

Have you tried contacting the customer? I would suggest your email or give them a quick and friendly phone call to check if they had indeed placed the order.  Shopify's fraud analysis isn't really that great at detecting fraud.

A while back I wrote an article on what to look out for. https://medium.com/@jason_80572/five-things-you-can-look-at-to-prevent-fraud-orders-from-happening-t...

I hope this helps.

Great article. I went to check order time after reading it.

3:30AM is the order time. Even more bizarre to me when added to the other details.

The buyer did just recently email and ask for updates on the order.

Somehow I'm expecting a chargeback...maybe overly suspicious

Sometimes it's best to go with your gut feeling and cancel the order if you think it's fraud. Also, consider how to best configure your Shopify site to better reduce fraud using the following guide I just wrote as well.  https://medium.com/@jason_80572/how-to-configure-your-shopify-settings-to-better-reduce-fraud-orders...
