Accepting credit cards, warehouses, and shipping and fulfilling orders
Greetings,
My Shopify store sells e-books and would like to add physical products, as well. Right now, I have disabled the email confirmation for the sake of my inbox's clarity but I would like to receive email confirmations for physical products so that I can prepare the vouchers, ship them, etc. Is there a way to enable email notifications for a category, physical products, collections, or something similar?
Thank you for your help.

Yep, that totally makes sense that you'd want a Shopify-based solution for this! The email filter approach is definitely more of a hack, but its something that has worked well for me in the past.
Having one email receive the order confirmations and auto-forwarding them to the right people definitely sounds like it could work out well. Best of luck!

Hi @bookstore ,
That's a great question! I do not believe there is a way to do this in Shopify, and I can't think of any apps that would offer this feature.
What you could do though is create a filter within your email provider that would automatically archive certain kinds of order confirmation emails, while leaving other kinds of order confirmation emails unread in your inbox.
I'm assuming that for all of your eBook products, since they don't require shipping, you have the "Requires shipping" setting set to False (or unchecked), correct?
I just happen to know that in the email notification that you get sent when an order is placed, there's a line containing the words "Shipping address" that only gets included in the email you receive if there's an item in the order that requires shipping.
Here's how you could set up an email filter to automatically archive order confirmation emails that don't contain the words "Shipping address" in the email body:
Good luck, and let me know whether or not this solution works out for you!

Thank you for your answer. Ideally, I wanted something that can be handled server-side, because creating a filter will require to be set up for each account. Nevertheless, it is a solution that will work.
Maybe an alternative would be to have only one account receive all the emails and forward the ones that require shipping to all the other addresses of users that need to know there's an order. Either way, they'll need to use Shopify's dashboard, so I guess that wouldn't break their normal workflow.
Thank you for the help.
