Has Shopify fixed this in the 6 years since this problem was identified?
I will launch a feature request with our developers to see if this functionality can be added in the future. While I can't guarantee that this feature will be added, we're more than happy to pass along suggestions some shop owners may have that would provide greater versatility to the platform.
This is weird. I ended up in this forum because in the past, when I have wanted to update the tracking information for an order that was fulfilled (for example, when sending a replacement order to a customer whose item arrived damaged without creating a separate draft order to do so), I have been able to "Cancel fulfillment" fine with no problem. I can then very easily re-fulfill the order
Now however, the option is missing from my menu despite the fact that I unarchived the orders in question, which-- incidentally-- were placed only a few days ago.
I suspect this has to do with the length of time since the order was placed. You can "edit" orders within 60 days, even if they have already been fulfilled and delivered, except for some reason this editing does not include updating the fulfillment status and tracking info.
But after those 60 days, you can't change the order at all via the "edit" button (except that you can because I have successfully overwritten the original tracking number in the past by "unfulfilling" an order and then fulfilling it again with a new tracking number, but this was for orders that I'm almost certain were more than 60 days old).
Shopify's lack of responsiveness to the most basic of needs of their customers-- EIGHT PAGES' WORTH of customers all expressing the same need-- is just flabbergasting and makes me wonder why I've stuck with them instead of just moving to a different platform.
