I am having the same issue, as well! It is very frustrating and creates a lot of unnecessary work for me. I'm sure that it is quite frustrating for my customers, as well. It shouldn't be difficult to be able to choose a default shipping option and still have a Local Pickup option available for local customers to choose.

Unfortunately the hacky work around suggested by AT no longer works (at least not on our theme).

Hi guys,

I am trying to do the Andrew's tip for the "pick up in store" option. I use the Minimal theme. I think I've done all the steps described above and it still doesn't work.

- I created the .js file "local-pickup.js" and put it in the assets.

- I copied and pasted the code 

{% if template == 'cart' %} {{ 'api.jquery.js' | shopify_asset_url | script_tag }} {{ 'local-pickup.js' | asset_url | script_tag }} {% endif %}

in the cart.liquid and cart-template.liquid (I tried to put the code at the beginning, at the end, in both "liquid files" or just in one of them)

- I changed the variants ID as explained

- I remplaced the code of the button area by

var buttonArea = $('.cart .post-large--seven-twelfths');

And it still doens't work...

Can anybody help?

We are having this same issue with in store pick up vs. FedEx.  Isn't there something Shopify can do to allow merchants to adjust this??!
