Minimum order amount at Checkout needed

hi there,

I found this as an outdated topic in this forum.

Jamie, Chief Officer of Funness wrote that there is a code you can use to achieve an order minimum display at the checkout site.

It is the following code to be used in the cart. liquid where you can replace the existing button with it.

https://ecommerce.shopify.com/c/ecommerce-discussion/t/how-can-i-specify-minimum-order-of-5-to-check...

Now, it worked on my site, but the issue I am having is that the cart won't update automatically.

Briefly described, let's say someone adds items to get over the amount needed, the checkout button won't show up automatically, only when the customer refreshes the site. This of course also means that, if the customer now reduces the items in the cart and gets under the requested amount, the checkout button will still show.

So basically there is an info that there is a certain order amount needed where usually the checkout button would be placed, but it will not be updated automatically according to the amount in the cart.

I think to solve this would be great, not only for me but many Shopify customers who I am sure to have the same issue!

I already thank everyone who wants to help and I am looking forward to reading your replies.

You Must Make a Wholesale Order of $100 or more.<p>
 {% else %}
        <input type="submit" value="Checkout Now" name="checkout" class="primary" />
{% endif %}

Hi Daniela-Karin

Essenetially, your theme has 2 types of carts. One is static and is the one you modify in cart.liquid and you can naviagte to https://lykkefundpaper.com/cart, the other is scripted via JavaScript and is what slides down from the header as you add items to the cart.

To prevent checkout if minimum order value hasn't been reached on the static cart.liquid, you follow the advice given in the thread you linked above.

To prevent the CART button being active or shown in the slide out, you need to edit your theme.js - probably around cartPopupTemplate and some of the AJAX cart stuff.

Hope this helps!

hi Karl,

thank you so much. I don't really understand any of this, unfortunately, but of course, I always appreciate any kind of help, even if it for me at this point of my understanding of code does not help me.

Kind regards,
Daniela

Daniela,

Have you tried contacting Shopify design team support? If you used a free Shopify theme they can possibly help yu if the change falls within the scope of free support.

If not, you still have the option to either contact a Shopify Expert or any capable web design freelancer who should be able to implement such a feature.

Best wishes!

Hi - we're just going through the same process as it sounds like you have here. We've been able to alter the button / copy and the static cart as per your first message - but we aren't seeing it update as the user changes the number of products in cart. They have to refresh the page to see the change which seems unpractical. Did you find a way around this?

Hi Eden, were you able to resolve this? Apparently, I am also stuck at the same point, how do we refresh the page automatically when the quantity is changed on the checkout page. Any pointers would help.

Sorry haven't been able to find a solution to this, we've started trying a different approach. We're hoping to provide the functionality for

https://apps.shopify.com/grouped-products

and stop the bundle entering the cart if it's under the minimum quantity - we're just reaching out to the developer to see how we can run that block though.

All the other catalogue products that are visible to customers are variants of 3, 6 or 12. Worse case scenario someone can order a batch of 3 as a back up, but it's not the ideal end point we were hoping to get to! Let us know if you get any further with this, hopefully the above helps and we'll let you know if it progresses.
