So I am trying to change the account that my Shopify payouts go to and it won't let me set it up with my netspend account...

It keeps saying that my routing number isn't valid

Hey, Desiree!

Koreen here from Shopify. Thanks for reaching out. :)

When using Shopify payments, the account required for your payouts does vary depending on where you are based. However this does require one of the following:

  • A full USD denominated Checking account if your checkout is processing in USD
  • A full Checking account that accepts ACH transfers if processing in CAD.
  • A full Current account if processing in GBP or EUR
  • A full Checking account if porcessing in AUD

Any other type of specialty accounts e.g flex currency accounts or money transferring services, can pose issues with payouts, and are not currently supported at this time.

I hope this helps to clarify for you.

The only reason I ask, is that my fiance has his netspend linked to his shopify and everything works fine.....they are both the same types of routing numbers etc.

Did you figure this out? I am hoping to use my netspend card/account to capture Shopify payments in my new store.
