Re: Is there anyway to force RD addresses to use a different shipping cost option?
I know the original post is quite old now, but I'm wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom on how to ensure the correct shipping cost is applied to Rural delivery (RD) addresses in New Zealand rather than leaving it up to the purchaser to decide?
Hi Paul
How do you add in rural shipping as some have mentioned where the customer selects rural shipping. I have been to settings/Shipping and added in a rural rate however on testing it is not giving the option to make a selection of Standard or Rural. I know some will not be honest but at the moment I don't want to add yet another app that will cost another $20 a month. Probably something to do in the future but not until we have Covid behind us.
Thanks, Jax
Hi Jax
You have to add two rates for the same shipping parameters. The customer will see both shipping options on checkout.
E.g. 1) 'E20 A5' and 2) 'E20 A5 Rural Delivery' - see screenshots.
The E20 rate - not highlighted - is the Postcode Shipping app option which I am currently trialing. Works well and automates a multitude of shipping options, including RD surcharges to rural delivery postcodes. Well worth the USD$20/month which is only two customers not selecting rural delivery at checkout
There is significant effort required to set up the postcodes - we're exploring whether NZC can provide a postcode database of their delivery zones. You could do this manually from the NZ Post postcode directory but will require Adobe PDF export to Excel converter.
Hope this helps!
Cheers, Paul
Hi Paul_TandG
Your post has been really helpful - thank you! May I ask which postage calculator it is that you've had success with? Trying to achieve the same thing with PBT.
Thanks in advance!
