Overriding customers adress??

Hi
I am using modalyst for sourcing products , and a fulfillment center to consolidate products and send orders out to customers. Now my problem is modalyst doesn't allow me to modify customer adress so that the shipment from suppliers within modalyst would go to the fulfillment center. The way things are now if a customer place an order that has products from different suppliers the customer might get 10 different packages on different times. Do anyone know if you can bypass or override this in shopify. Modalyst was not willing to help.

Modalyst is not willing to help with what exactly? Providing a way to edit orders? A way to consolidate? Wrong questions get wrong answers.

Considerations:

  • Appless Fulfillment - normally without an you would modify your fulfillment notice templates with logic to catch when multiple supply orders are made and you need to consolidate it at your location before the email is sent to the fulfillment center.
  • App Automatic Fulfillment - if your using an off the shelf app and it's doing fulfillment automatically, even a custom fulfillment service wouldn't necessarily be able to change the order info in time.
  • Fulfillment update window - There's may be a window of time before new orders are checked and sent off to be fulfilled, contact your fulfillment service or check settings. So you may be able to just set up a system to notify you when a specific type of order is and made manually edit the order with an app. Then when that's working develop something more custom.
  • If your using an off the shelf app whose service has an api, or webhooks, replace the app with a custom fulfillment service that checks for your business logic before passing the order to end fulfillment center.

*edit; made into list, clarity

Modalyst answered that when an order is placed in my store and synced to modalyst there is no way to change customer adress so shipping would go to fulfillment center instead. And they have had little request in this matter and would act accordingly. And that's usually a no.

I think Paul has a much better understanding of what you're trying to do than I do, but I'll leave this option here for you anyway.

We had a customer recently with a similar problem. They wanted to change the shipping and billing addresses when an order is placed in order to deal with a similar fulfillment problem. Our automation app was able to do that for them, within a minute or two of the order being placed. This was enough to solve the problem for them. If you're looking to change address data in certain circumstances, it's a good option.

Here's one example that triggers on a tag, but you could use other triggers, like simply "order paid". Some food for thought: https://www.apps.bonify.io/mr-arigato-task-automator-for-shopify/workflows/change-billing-address-dr...

If you're interested, sign up for the app and drop us a note, we're currently doing free onboarding and can get it started for you for free.

When does that happen?  Those are 2 different things A) when order is placed, B) synced.

And is it controllable or reliable(every X minutes)?

While your focus is on just the address, isn't the actual problem not being able to modifycorrect orders before fulfillment?

Since you can't always fix the specific without fixing the general that's the tack you want to take.

If they dont allow you some margins in the process for correcting orders either by hand or by automation before they get them IDK what to tell you.

I don't think theirs any way to smoothly change the shipping info someone enters during checkout you'd have to do hinky front end stuff or use draft orders that you issue by preapproval or canceling orders , ewwww.

Yes window of time is one of the things I was trying to dig up.

If you find out there's a window of time this is the exact type of thing you need.

Just beware if it's small window to avoid race conditions (wrong action happens after wrong action).

If you do find out please leave an anecdote or link to modalyst documentation about it.
