Nick here from Shopify. Great question!
This does depend on how the bank actions it normally, some banks will take longer than others etc. Normally the bank will send it back as a failed payout which will then be re-tried to the updated bank account details when you have them in, correctly and it should go through to you. If you have updated your bank details to the correct ones and are still seeing issues, can you let me know in a reply here please as it might require a closer look.

I’m having troubles with payouts and was researching and saw your name helping a load of others on a post from March so it was nice to see u doing that recently as well, my payouts have been failing for a week or so now and it seems like I’ve done everything to try and fix it...

I am having payout issues as well. My bank info is correct and my bank told me there is no problem with them. The Shopify help is just taking me around in circles. This is our first sale and we are very disappointed to have been setting up our shop and subscribing to Shopify since October just to have this happen. Can you please help?
Could you both double-check the payout sections in your admin (Store Admin > Settings > Payments > Payment Providers > View Payouts) and let me know what it says or if there is an error message of any kind, please?
Each situation is different, and getting as much detail as possible is key to troubleshooting here. Let me know and we can take it from there!
@CupidsPair - If your payouts have been failing for a week or so, just to make sure if there is no error message about having the correct bank details? If not, have there been any successful payouts yet? If there has been a change, it might just take some more time for the payouts to come through, but it is very unlikely they will be lost.
@Ritavan - From what you have written, from experience, it seems like you have an error message about having the correct bank details. If this is the case, just to double and triple check the details from the bank are correct and to make sure they are precise when you update your bank details in this section of your store. Other than the bank details not being precise, there isn't any reason this wouldn't work. If it is not this and something else, please let me know!
I think this might need a closer look. I see you’ve been active recently and need help with my payouts! My store went live last week and so far I’ve had 2 payouts to my account but haven’t seen the money yet. I reached out to my bank and they said the reason why is because the name doesn’t match that of my account (ie, the account is my name and the payout is going to my business name) how can I change the name of the payout so I can receive my money?

That does sound a bit strange as the name wouldn't have any effect and you can't change the payout name. Sometimes it can take a few days to process though, so it might be that. Can you take a look at your admin for me please and tell me if it's working for you?
