Possible Phishing email?

Hi

I received an email today claiming to be from Shopify thanking me for signing up to Shopify payments and asking me to confirm my identity, the strange thing is that I have been using Shopify payments for 6 months now. This is the email snapshot,

Thanks for signing up with Shopify Payments! In order to complete this initial review and ensure payments continue to be sent to your account we would need a little bit more information.

Confirm your identity

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to support our help center, or reply directly to the Account Integrity Specialist you have been dealing with regarding your request.

Thanks for choosing Shopify! We look forward to helping you grow your business!

I got one as well and thought it was strange.  Shopify please advise if this is legit or scam email.

Nick here from Shopify. 

I can only see the content of what you've sent and not the full e-mail, but from what you've sent it does seem legitimate. However; keep in mind that our teams will only request documents via your Shopify admin and not through email. If you do not see a prompt to upload your documents in the admin, then this email may be a phishing email and should be forwarded to safety@shopify.com

While we can't investigate or take a look at your store admin to know more via the community for security and privacy reasons, I do encourage you to reach out to our primary support team to talk to someone in real-time to make sure of this for you. 

I know it's not ideal to have to take this extra step, and I am more positive about this email than not, but to ease your mind and make sure everything is all up to date, I would recommend it. Please visit our support team here and log in to your account to create a support request for this!
